Green light comes on,no sound,have checked speaker connections,monitor shows no VGA connection ,fans run etc.have stripped out boards and checked all power supply and other cables.

The Samsung SyncMaster P2570hd is a monitor with speakers; it isn't the computer itself. I'll assume that you are dealing with a computer connected to the monitor and not a set-top box. Make sure that Mute is not enabled on the computer. There should be an icon on the lower right hand side of a Windows desktop. If the mute is enabled, it will have a red circle with a diagonal line through it. Left click on the icon to remove the mute (change the volume or click on the mute icon). Test the monitor's speakers by connecting it to another device with known good audio output.

Next how are you connecting the monitor to the computer (VGA, DVI or HDMI)? If you are using VGA or DVI (including DVI to HDMI), you need to connect an audio patch cable (3.5 mm) between the speaker (green port on the back of a sound card) or headphone jack of the computer and the audio input jack of the monitor. The audio input jack is between the DVI and VGA ports. You can test the output of the speaker jack on the computer with regular computer speakers. Plug in the power cord (or USB cable) for powered speakers. If the free-standing speakers work, check the volume setting on the monitor with the +/- buttons to the right of the menu button. Do not press menu first, though. If that doesn't solve the problem, continue using the separate speakers. (Unless the monitor is still under warranty, it usually isn't worth taking apart a monitor to replace the speakers. You may be able find replacement parts online.)

If you are using an HDMI cable, check the output audio setting to see if the HDMI audio is available. For Windows, click on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound (Windows 7). Then click on Manage Audio Devices under Sound. In the Playback tab, check what available audio devices you have. Make the HDMI the default device by right-clicking on it and selecting Make this the default device. (Other versions of Windows will a slightly different route to this panel.) You may need to restart the computer to get the audio signal on the HDMI cable after setting this. Note: not all video cards/computers support HDMI audio. If you don't see HDMI listed in the Playback devices, connect an audio patch cable as with a VGA or DVI cable, described above. Use stand-alone speakers if the monitor's speakers are bad.

shake vga cable at different places & observe.........if colours becomes normal or it comes & again it goes...then vga cable is deffective.......either you have to change full vga cable or you have to repair that cable itself................after shaking cable also if no improvement then......hit your monitor lightly on left side or righr side or on top & observe ...........if colours becomes normal or it comes & again it goes...then following is the situation...............after 4 or 5 yrs in some monitors on main board at some soldering joints crack develops....then due to loose contact colour problem comes (1 of the sympton) ...........when we hit that lightly then those loose contacts joins temporarly & again colour comes nomally for some time............so solution is ......monitor main board & crt circuit board should be observed carefully & most of the joints should be re-soldered.......only a good service engineer can do that........even after hitting monitor lightly if there is no improvement then..following is the situation.....................on CRT circuit board ( circuit board that is fixed to tube) ''red green blue'' - video output IC ( some thing like LM2469TA ) will be there - it should be replaced - usually it will be fixed to heat sink ------- before changing IC all the components on CRT circuit board should be checked ( after switching off monitor ).........this problem cannot be solved by user unless user has idea about components( resisitors, transisitors, diodes,...etc) , have soldering iron , multimeter & other tools....................so contact good monitor service engineer .............iam from bangalore - 09986222774 - [email protected] ( computers, laptop, printers, etc )

check to see if the monitor connections are connected from the Monitor To the computer ,,,

Please check by removing the VGA Cable from the Cabinet and check the whether are you getting VGA connection message on the monitor screen or not ?
If you are getting the message on the Monitor screen after removing the cable then check the Mother-Board
or else get monitor repaired

Good day sir, hi, lets make sure first that your motherboard is good, so we need to test it, just prepare the folowing items.

1. A good working power supply, to test: place a jumper wire across the green wire and any black(or sometimes the red with work) wire on the 20/24 pin power connector. Plug it and see if the exhaust fan run.
2. A good set of Ram, just make sure its good. if not or in doubt buy new one (only one module) if you want. (you can keep the doubtful ones and test it later)
3. A keyboard.
4. If your motherboard has no VGA onboard, A good VGA card.
5. A thumb speaker, or you can use your PC case speaker.

Okay lets assemble, on a table:

1. Place your motherboard, (make sure no metals underneath) connect the Power Supply 20(or 24) pin to your motherboard and the 4 pin 12v connector. (if your motherboard has one).
2. Connect the pc thumb speaker or your case speaker.
3. connect the keyboard.
4. connect the RAM, make sure it clicks as you install it.
5. Optional VGA card. Onboard vga will do. Connect a monitor. plug in the monitor.

Okay, plug in your power supply, (exhaust fan is off at the moment) locate the power button pins, short them with a screwdriver. (fan is now on)

Now check your Keyboard. you will see two sets of lights, first set is Num Lock + Scroll Lock + Caps Lock, then a few seconds the second set: Num Lock only. at this point your motherboard is good.

Also check out the PC speaker beeps.

• 1 beep mean good.
• 1 long and 3 short beeps VGA is bad. (it may help if the VGA is snug and fit on the slot). If on board VGA, use a new AGP/PCIe card.
• Continous long beeps. cannot detect memory
• Continous short beeps, motherboard. (or memory sometimes).
• No beep, fan is on.at this point do everything again. (do it several times until the board responds)

Try reseating the video card in your new computer. Sounds like it may not be seating in the slot properly. Take it out and put it back in with the power off and then hook everything back up and then see if you get video,.

when ever you are getting the beep messages after you remove the ram card and connecting the tower to the power cord it shows that mother board is functiong normally so no problem with the mother board .try this steps so that it may resolve the issue.

. Swap the power cable with the monitor
. Power drain ( after removing all the cables press and hold the power button on the tower for 10-15 sec and the re-insert the power cable and connect the monitor and check)

Check to see if there are any loose connections to the memory cards on the memory board. Make sure the data cable to the drives are connected properly. Is the fan in the power supply on?

Was it dropped? If so, it could be a board crack or damage to the CRT. Was it stored in an unheated garage, shed, or attic, etc.? Damp air or widely changing temperatures can cause condensation on the circuit boards. Minerals and other impurities can collect on the board via the condensation, leading to some nasty corrosion. Plus in my opinion, late-model CRT monitors are a real pain to work on. Many of them have so many shields and so many screws that before you get the board free to work on it, you're sick of messing with it! *grin* Then when you do some work on it and want to test it, you have to do a lot of reassembly first. I'm sure others will be tempted to jump in here and tell me how crazy I am, but unless they belong to a family member, I don't even work on them any more. When it comes to monitors, I only work on the flat-panel types. But if you go for it, look for electrolytic capacitors with bulging tops or leaking bottoms, bad board connections, etc. Good luck!
