The motor runs on my Euro-Pro 416. I can wind a bobbin. I can move the needle downward manually but when I press the pedal the motor runs. The needle doesn't move. What is wrong?

How expensive is it to fix? Is it something I can do? Or should I just buy another sewing machine?

SOURCE: needle will not pick up bobbin threat

I had the exact same problem. The timing is off. You can actually fix this yourself all you need is an allen wrench. If you look at the rod the needle is inserted into and follow it up to about 2 inches below the top of the machine there should be a clamp. use the allan wrench to loosen the clamp and adjust the needle height. I used this website as a guide to getting the timing correct. http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Repair_Pictures/timing1.gif

now if only I could figure out why my thread keeps getting jammed under the bobbin!

SOURCE: thread jams & wheel axel cannot turn

there are a couple of things that come to mind.
Bobbin:   wound with uneven tension.  Try taking the bobbin, rewind that thread onto another bobbin and wind slowly.  make sure the thread feeds onto the new bobbin evenly.
upper thread:  catching on something or not flowing off the spool easily.
you're doing well, sounds like you consulted the manual and used your noggin, hang in there and let me know if this doesn't help.  we can troubleshoot some more!

SOURCE: can't wind bobbin kenmore 16221 sewing machine, no manual

On the right side of the machine there is a large knob at the top. Pull that out and you can wind your bobbin. Don't forget to push it back in so you can sew :)

SOURCE: Kenmore 158.1703 sewing machine - needle not going up and down

The machine sounds like it has threads caught in the bobbin area thus locking the machine up. Check in there and maybe you can pick them out with tweezers. They may need to be 'softened up' with a little oil before you can get them out!. also Please push the bobbin winder back to the left position and it will release the bobbin winder. Then you should be able to sew. If the needle won't move, you will need to tighten the turning wheel on the right side end of the machine. This should move your needle. Then you should be set to sew.
------This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

SOURCE: Tiny Tailor bobbin won't wind

I don't know the solution but you can find the manual here:
http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html

Do search for TT600 when given the model number (do NOT use TT600X since it wll say not found). It's a very nice manual that is in PDF format.

Why is my shark euro pro 998A only sewing in reverse when it actually doesn't have reverse

Your motor has gone reverse polarity. If you are using a foot pedal, the issue is likely in there or it could be the motor itself. With the motor running as slowly as you can, force it to run the other way using the handwheel, and when it does, go full speed for a minute, no needle, no bobbin, no thread. It should reset the motor's memory. If it is a foot pedal, it needs opening up and checking for polarity with a multimeter.

How do you thread a euro pro 382?

Here are the steps to thread a Euro-Pro 382 sewing machine:
  1. Raise the presser foot lever to release the tension discs.
  2. Place the thread spool on the spool pin and slide it to the right until it clicks into place.
  3. Pull the thread end from the spool and insert it through the thread guide located at the top of the machine.
  4. Pull the thread down through the tension discs, then wrap it around the bobbin winding tension disc located on the top left of the machine.
  5. Insert the thread end through one of the holes on the bobbin and push the bobbin onto the bobbin winding spindle.
  6. Push the bobbin winding spindle to the right to engage the winding mechanism. Hold the thread end and press the foot pedal to start winding the bobbin.
  7. When the bobbin is full, cut the thread and push the bobbin winding spindle back to the left.
  8. Remove the bobbin from the spindle and place it into the bobbin case.
  9. Hold the thread end and turn the handwheel towards you to raise the needle to its highest position.
  10. Pull the thread from the bobbin case and insert it through the thread guide located above the needle.
  11. Thread the needle from front to back and pull the thread out about 6 inches.
  12. Lower the presser foot lever to engage the tension discs and pull the thread towards the back of the machine.
  13. Hold the thread end and turn the handwheel towards you to take up the bobbin thread.
  14. Close the bobbin cover and you're ready to start sewing.

Needle assembly doe not go up and down when the foot pedal is pressed but the bobbin does turn.

Make sure you have not disengaged the needle bar, such as when winding a bobbin. The manual says that when a bobbin is set for winding and the bobbin winder shaft is moved to the right, the needlebar is disengaged. If that appears to be okay on your machine, perhaps something in that mechanism is broken or misaligned preventing the needlebar from operating.

Shark Euro Pro 473: The needle won't go up and down when I press the pedal. Power is on, light too and machine running but no action. Any suggestions other than rethreading everything? Thanks!

Is the bobbin winder engaged? The smaller handle inside the balance wheel, the large handle. If the bobbin winder is engaged the thread will only wind around the bobbin and the needle does not move.

The needle is stuck, not moving.its very hard and the motor makes a sound but needle does not move.

Refer to your manual and make sure the bobbin winding feature is disengaged.

Turn off the power and remove the needle and if there is fabric, remove it also.

Open the needle plate look for thread tangles.

After cleaning, turn the hand-wheel by hand to see if it moves the needle up and down.

If it does, press on the foot pedal to see if it is working.

Any of the above could be the problem.
