There were generally 3 ways of running a sewing machine: foot treadle, knee control, or foot control. If yours has the plug for the foot control, take it to a local sewing machine shop and see if they can set you up with a foot control.

Testimonial: "Thank you so much for your time. Mine doesnt have foot treadle or knee control. But it comes with two power plug cables and no foot pedal plug anywhere in the machine. I am confused."

SOURCE: foot pedal assembly for White sewing machine

You only need to replace the cord if it has been damaged. It will cost less if you just take the machine , cord and control to a local technician and have him just replace the foot control. Let him test it first. A generic foot control should cost less than $30.

Brother CS-8150, "F04" what does it mean? I don't know what to do

make sure your foot peddle is fully pluged in. It's a foot pedal error code.
Try unpluging your foot pedal and start the machine if it works without the foot pedal have the foot pedal repaired or replaced.

I have an old model hz5-b1 and I have threaded it up and it won't stitch , I think it's the bobbin?

more likely that the needle thread tension is not tight enough
adjust it to where you have some resistance when pulling the thread to put it through the eye of the needle

Hi. i am looking to find out whether the brother cs600i sewing machine comes with a foot pedal. i am aware that it comes with a start stop button and the compatibility for one, but does the sewing machine...

I can't find the cs600i listed on the Brother site. The cs6000i does come with the foot pedal in the box when purchased new.

I wish that I could be of more help if you are looking at the cs600i.

What is err code F04

It most likely is your foot pedal. Unplug your foot pedal and start the machine without it. If it works properly without the foot pedal plugged in then your foot pedal needs repaired or replaced. This worked for us with the NX400 machine and I am sure the NX450 is closely similar. Don't bother to buy a Manual if you didn't already get one with the machine. A Service manual and parts manual is best; But just so you know they don't show the error codes unless you are a qualified and authorized repair person for the machines. I got my info from the repair man where my wife buys and repairs her machines. I am an electronic technician and mechanic so I understand how this system works. I will be repairing my wife's machines from now on.

Sewing Service shops often have old foot control pedals from retired machines, so widen your local search and don't just look at Europro, as a good tech will service all makes.

I have a 40 year old Brother machine. It now runs

Yes, it is the capacitor, or the condenser as you call it has comletely short-circuited electrically bypassing the rheostat, which causes the motor to run at full speed. The cure is simple...cut it out of the circuit. On Singer machines the culprit is usually located inside the foot pedal box...probably on your Brother machine also. They were meant to supress noise from entering into your power line, which causes interference when listening to AM broadcasts, which everyone at the time did. The capacitors themselves will either be in one or two round cans or square flat cans. Simply snip the wires to the capacitor(s) inside the foot controller box and your machine will once again work like normal!
