first check the iris of the camera if it is opening, you will see this when you look inside the lens of the camera when you turn on and off the switch at camera mode if the iris is opening....if the iris is ok the second problem may occurs of your camera is the ccd image sensor....

SOURCE: Samsung VP-D31 Mini DV Digital Camcorder recording black screen

I have a brand new VP-D31. It still has the protector on the screen. I acquired this (legally!) but it has no charger, cables, battery or any etcs. I got it from the Police Auctions and was too ignorant to understand what I was getting. The item was obviously stolen from a store shelf - hence no bits. How about you buy it from me?

Black scene frame

i think you have changed the screen into other mode so that you are unable to see the recording picture there will be a switch to change the mode at the back of the cam or at the right of the cam.

Blue screen on playback on Sony DCR-HC40

You can see an image in a camcorder viewfinder any time the camera's actually on in record mode, whether or not the camcorder is actually recording. So that's no guarantee.

Assuming the obvious (you have the right kind of tapes, they're not in write-protect mode, you rewind before playing, etc). I recommend that you borrow a tape of the same kind from someone else and check it on playback in your camcorder. This should lead you know understand if you have a playback problem or a recording problem.

Recording

This sounds like the CCD sensor is faulty ( this is the device that generates picture in both v-cams and normal digital cameras and sits behind the lens ). Playback is fine but no image ( or very 'noisy' image ) in capture mode. Easy to repair but one has to put a new CCD block in.

Sony TRV-19 Camcorder - Black screen in camera mode

Fixed it, at least temporarily I had the side off my trv250 examining it, especially the CCD connection. I had read the post about soldering a capacitor to pins 1 and 3 (from the left) on the bottom row. I didn't have the specific capacitor on hand, but I started touching some of the small ones I did have to those pins. I found that after I touched a 100uF, 10V cap to pins 1 and 3 the picture suddenly came back to life and stayed that way after removing the cap. I have no idea how long this will last, and I've set up the cam on a tripod in the livingroom with the LCD display facing me so I can monitor it. If you, like me, figure you have nothing else to lose, you might want to give this a try. Note: my camera was suffering from the green smeary horizontal lines problem, and wasn't completely black. I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not.
