you probably cannot connect you camcorder, you can just use video capture software when you play the dvd on your mac. there are 100s of free to use capture software, just google & choose the one you like.

Hello Howard I am thinking/sounds like that the problem is in the LCD display. How old is the camera, as it been stored in a safe location to avoid any serious damage and/or a dry location. Could possible where the display opens on the camera. May be you could find a local Sony dealer to take a look at it for you. Please let me know the out come of your camera. Ben.

Thanks for using FixYa. You can connect the USB connector on your PC to the USB Jack on your Camcorder using the USB cable supplied with it. The USB Jack is located at the bottom front left side of Camcorder which is covered with a flap and can be opened downwards. USB port on the PC is located in front and the back of the PC through which you can connect it with the Camcorder. You can also use Memory Stick.

I often process the postproduction in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. But when I was to put Sony XAVC to it, I became astonished because I find XAVC is not compatible to Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 which is very wired. I don't understand why my AVCHD camcorder will output files which can not be edited in video editing software. I tired many converters and they all fail to handle the conversion of Sony XAVC to MOV. You should only clean heads using liquid cleaner , never dry tape if video works ok afterwards but still no internal sound could be circuit breakdown

You will need to have an i-Link cable, also known as a IEEE 1394 cable, which is a four pin to four pin cable. That will hooked to the DV output from your camera to the DV input on your computer, if so equipped. Also there is a cable with a four pin i-Link to USB cable which I use my self on my system to import DV from my camera to the edit program. Hope that this is helpful to you.

Some symptoms of a defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value. This last step occurs outside the CCD, in a camera component called an analog-to-digital converter.
