In the process of using diesel generator set, soft rubber pipe is easy to rub with the parts around it, and it is easy to wear and tear oil leakage in the long run. However, most of the fuel supply system of diesel generator set uses soft rubber tube, so it is not easy to find the oil leakage point.

SOURCE: Generator runs, but does not generate electricity

Reset / tickled? There are resistors and diodes in the end of the alternators rotor (the bit in the middle that spins) If these look ok visually then change the capacitor which is a barrel shaped object usually with 4 prongs on the end. Without a capacitor the genset will not produce a voltage.

SOURCE: Generator will not generate electricity.

I assume it is a hand start genset. The most common problem if it has been sat for a while is rust on the ignition timing flywheel. If you take the pullcord housing off (recoil) then you will see a big flywheel with what can only be described as a big forked prong with a couple of wires on it. This flywheel should be stainless steel and rusts when sat around for a while without use. Its job is to complete the circuit to the spark plug every time the flywheel passes the forked prong at a given spot on the flywheel, the faster the wheel turns the faster the spark hence the engine runs quicker. Clean the rust off with a releasing agent (wd 40) hey presto!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: oil leaking from generator

Whose engine do you have? Briggs and Honda have websites where you can down load their manuals and replace the rear seal.

SOURCE: VALSI 5,500 WATT GENERATOR WILL NOT START

All generators need to be run once a month. All things from the tank to the and including the carb will get gummed up with dried out fuel. I have a whole house generator and a 5500 watt gen set on my motor home. I keep fresh fuel in the stand alone house generator in California in case of a bad earthquake. I drain the gas after every run and keep all vehicles full of fuel just in case. Run gen sets at least once a month or pay pay pay!!

SOURCE: oil change

There are two 14mm bolts on both sides (lower) of the motor. Unscrew one or both and drain the oil....Replace with sae 30 or 10w30 oil and should take almost a quart. (Put the bolts back in and tork slightly.) Check oil level.

Hello there here is my situation, I don't have any lights coming on the dashboard but I am leaking oil. Do you know what could possibly be wrong? Because there is no smell and no light.

You can purchase a dye that you add to the oil after running it for a few days then use the uv light that came with the dye to find your leak. The uv light causes the dye to glow bright neon green. See the glow and theres your leak.

My coleman powermate5500 mod 0525500.01 leaks oil between motor and gen. how to fix

The crank shaft seal is bad on the motor. You will need to seperate the motor from the generator to replace the seal. Depending on the seal design, you will have to open the crankcase on the output shaft side to remove the seal.

Hi there. We have a Coleman 6250 and are expecting Hurricane Bill tomorrow. After Juan, we want to be prepared! Unfortunately, it won't start. Could it just be old gas, like my husband thinks? We haven't...

Hi again. We changed the gas and oil. Nothing. The carb looked clean. I think the most important thing we did was to remove the spark plug and put a little oil (turned over a little more), and then gas, into the chamber. It smoked and backfired - and eventually, after a half a day's efforts, roared to life!
