DNS configuration is what you do to setup the name server for either a website or for your computer. Domain name servers find the IP (Internet Protocol). Everything that connects to the internt has an IP address. IP addresses are for location the machine. They are of the form xyz.xyz.xyz.xyz where xyz is a number between 0 and 255. A domain name would be something like fixya.com, which is easier for people to remember than the numbers. A Domain Name server translates the name to the numbers. Your ISP has one to do the the translation for you. For a web server (computer that hosts a website like fixya.com, the webhost has a Domain Name Server that allows the computer that runs the webserver to be found. Configuration in that case would be to allow the website to find other sites, and to be found by other sites.
