SOURCE: Lenovo H3000 series Desktop locks up.

Let's start with what programs load up when your computer is booting.
From the Start button, click it and choose Run. Type in msconfig and hit Enter or OK. There is a tab called Startup. When you click that, everything you see checked will load during bootup. Some things you need, some things you don't. What would those be? Depending on what you have installed, the list could be long and involved. A general rule of thumb is to let your knowledge of what you have be the guide. There's no need for Office, your printer and other unnecessary periperhals and programs. If in doubt, Google any Startup Item to see if it's a necessary process. To be doubly safe, uncheck the unknowns one at a time and reboot after each to see if the system is affected.
When you reboot the first time, you'll get a warning that says changes have been made to the startup. Check the box to not have the message shown again.
If the Command line is blank, this is a clue that it may not be safe. Many viruses and malware programs will hide themselves this way.
Next, let's take a look at your hard drive. Go to My Computer, click it and right click your hard drive. This should be your C dirve. Choose Properties. In the General tab, click Disk Cleanup. It will examine your drive to determine what can be done to clean out unnecessary files. I generally check every box except the Compress Old Files and let it do its thing by choosing OK.
Onwards to the next tab- Tools. Choose the Defragment Now box and then the drive (C) that you want to examine. Choose analyze and let it run. The more red you see, the more the files that need to be together are separated. The analysis will pop up a box and let you know the recommendation. This will take quite some time so allow for that. A word of warning- if you don't have 15% free space on your hard drive, it may not work at all. This is a great time to go to Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs and uninstall applications you no longer use.
Time to scan for malware, adware and viruses. Before you use your programs (you do have them, right?), make sure to update. I use a couple of different ones. AVG is my choice for anti-virus, I also use Spybot and Malwarebytes to check for malware, etc.
That's it. These all done in combination should help to speed things up.

SOURCE: Recently bought a Lenovo Lenovo G550 laptop. Can

If I remember correctly, those speakers were supplied with some Gateway computers equipped with a digital soundcard, and the speakers take only digital input.

Take a look at the input plug and compare it to these:

If yours looks like the mono plug, your speakers will only work with the original digital card. Plug them into your new computer and you'll get nothing out of them.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

I recently purchased a Lenovo All in One wireless computer. I've plugged in the USB cable as per instructions but my X4650 printer will still not print.

Have you installed the printer drivers? Is the printer power turned on before plugging the USB cable into the computer? You could have a bad cable. Try a different cable.

Lenovo 3000 j series was working fine then looked at screen and it was all squiggle lines and computer seemed froze. i manually turned it off and waited. i then turned it back on and there is no video

First, is the computer coming on, do you hear the boot up beeps and sounds. if that is happening, try another monitor, if that works, buy a new one, if that does not work, repalce the video card. if none of that works, take the machine to a local shop for analisis. This might remotely be caused by a virus, but if you are using a good virus protection, it should have caught it.

Just bought Lenovo S10 and so unlucky that window crashed. So have to restore my Lenovo S10 to factory settings. Can’t really find how ot restore to factory settings in Lenovo S10 from the User Manual. So check from google, after many many search, finally found the solution.
For Lenovo S10 to restore to factory settings follow the steps below:-

  • Turn off your Lenovo. (i mean shut down and make sure it’s power off)
  • Now press on the “One Key Recovery” key at the top of your Keyboard, your Lenovo S10 should boot up. Else hold down the “One Key Recovery” key until it boot up.

  • Now you may choose “Restore to factory settings” from the screen and proceed for the restoration.
** the restoration will first check if your windows files has been corrupted, if yes, then it will restore it to the original state and no restore is required. else it will continue with the restoration
