My hisense 43 4k tv keeps reverting to 480i from 4k when i check the output it says 4k not recognised but then i reset the tv and go back into the picture output menu it lets me put 4k back on my tv

You did not give your model number of receiver. Some of the ones from 2007 or so have a switch on the back for video resolution, 480i, 480p 720p 1080i so set this switch to 480i.

Select all resolutions supported by the TV in use. Video will automatically be output at the highest resolution possible for the content you are playing from among the selected resolutions.*
* The video resolution is selected in order of priority as follows: 1080p > 1080i > 720p > 480p/576p > Standard (NTSC:480i/PAL:576i).

If [Composite / S Video] is selected in step 4, the screen for selecting resolutions will not be displayed.
If [HDMI] is selected, you can also select to automatically adjust the resolution (the HDMI device must be turned on). In this case, the screen for selecting resolutions will not be displayed.
7.
Set the TV type.
Select the type of TV in use. Set when only SD resolution (NTSC:480p / 480i, PAL: 576p / 576i) is to be output such as when [Composite / S Video] or [AV MULTI / SCART] is selected in step 4.
8.
Check your settings.
Confirm that the image displayed is at the correct resolution for the TV. You can go back to a previous screen and revise the settings by pressing the button.
9.
Save your settings.
The video output settings are saved on the PS3™ system. You can continue on to set audio output settings. For details on audio output, see (Settings) > (Sound Settings) > [Audio Output Settings] in this guide.

With the ps3 off and connected to the tv hold the power button down, keep it held down until you hear a couple strange beeps and it fully powers back off. That will reset the video output settings and if you switched televisions should enable you to see some picture, then go to display settings and configure it for the tv you are using specifically (480i/P,720P,1080i/P,etc)

Hi, It is entirely possible that a couple of conditions could exist.
1) the DVD may support progressive output and the TV may not
2) the TV input could be defective or the DVD output could be defective.

Possible tests are -
You could test the TV input by substituting the dvd with another appliance known to be working (say a VCR. etc). the Y input (Green) on the TV only needs to be supplied with a composite output (yellow plug). If you see some sort of response from the picture then you can confirm the tv input is at least working.

Alternatively, try a different input/ output combination between your DVD/TV (Composite signal)

Typically TVs will auto adjust to the input signal it receives. If your cable box is only outputting 480i then all the tv will show is 480i. Ensure you have a good 1080i signal going in to the unit and check again
