All of a sudden, my picture what to black in a one year (and 3 weeks) old TV. The sound works well and I can change stations, but no picture. No lines, no fuzz, just black.
Had the same problem. if you take out the power supply in the back of your tv ( easy to get to just a few screws in back to get to the box then a few more to get into it and some quick disconnects) you can take it to a local tv repair shop and they can remove the two green capacitors in the upper left of the circuite panel and place in 16v ones that can actually handle the power needed. do not try to do it yourself although the new capacitors only cost 2 dollars one wrong move and you burn the wires on the board. the repair man only charged me 54 dollars well worth it considering polaroid wanted to charge me 500 to fix a 2 dollar part that should have been recalled. they are in the busines to make money but if any of us did what they did wede be considerd con artist. final note since ive replaced the capacitors my tvs worked better than when i bought it
Nice Try everyone, We are an Authorized Service Center For Polaroid, and where the problem is in the Power Supply! This supply generates standby 5VDC when the PW_on Pin goes High, It will produce the 12VDC and the 24VDC for the Backlight (inverter) , But the Problem is in the Electrolytic Capacitors in the Power Supply!
The back light is gone you might need to replace it. Open it and check the back light is easy to access.
I have the 32" lcd tv and i have power to the tv when its plugged in and when i go and turn on the tv nothing happens i get no picture can anyone help me a buddy of mine says its the back light inverter but idk
I have the same issue and checking power supply have solid 5VDC and 24 VDC. Backlight works since the Polaroid logo displays then goes black
After noting all the possible issues, I suggest anyone with a SMALL investment like I have, chuck the TV and post the experience under lessons learned (listening Polaroid CO.) People with larger investments, I feel for. Hope you can work it out. EVERYONE ELSE, STAY AWAY FROM POLAROID.

My picture looked like it was animated even though it was a real live show. I fixed it twice be resetting factory default settings. The third time I couldn't navigate through the menu to fix it. It is just now 15 months old, 3 months over the1 year warranty. Polaroid is offering no help. I took it to a repair shop and they said it needs a control card ($350-400). Does anyone know where I can get the part and hopefullly for less money?

Ok, where is the back light located? I have the back open, what do I look for?
I AM HAVING THE SAME ANIMATION ON ALL SHOWS PROBLEM. I WOULD TRY TO RESET THE FACTORY SETTINGS, BUT HALF THE TIME MY MENU WON'T APPEAR WHEN PUSHING THE BUTTON AND WHEN IT DOES I CAN'T READ IT.
No picture
i turn my tv on...i will work for a few seconds...and then the screen goes black...my tv is less than a year old...sound works great still...help
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM FEW SECONDS AFTER I TURN ON MAY TV THE SECREEN GOES BLACK.
My problem is IDENTICAL to UFCRon's. I have no idea what to do. The TV goes in the garbage in a few days.
Exact same problem with mine, after about 14 months of use. Did anybody find a solution? Want to know before I drop money on a repair or replacement.
Our tv is 9 months old. First it would flash as though stuck on slide show which we never used. Then it went black( still could hear sound ) and I noticed a smell like wires or plastic burning.
My tv is a little over a year old. A few months ago, the screen started randomly going black. We found that turning it off for awhile and then back on again works for a bit. This is extremely frustrating. Reading the responses on here, I may be taking it to a repairman soon! Thanks everyone and good luck!
model 3732 purchased 02/07,no pic or sound
I have the same problem, I can watch TV or play my ps3 and then all of a sudden the picture starts to flicker, and then it goes out. After this happens I can still hear the sound, sometimes if I wait a minute the picture will come back on, and sometimes I will have to turn the TV off for a while. The local TV repair shop will not even fix Polaroid TV's since they went out of buisness, they cannot get the parts. I have the thing apart, but I am not sure what I am looking at. I am pretty mechanically inclined and am adept with my hands, but this is the first TV that I have actually taken apart. Does anyone know what the power supply or these green capacitors are supposed to look like?
I have exactly the same problem and I can't locate the capacitor either and I do not know what size I need to purchase if I could find it.
I just want to know if it is possible the my polaroid tv can be fixed an if it is worth while doing so. The picture went black, but there is sound.
we had the problem off and on for a few days, then it worked perfectly a couple days, and then the next day it just stays black
