Looking at pictures of the watch , you will need to remove one side of the strap by undoing the screws on the side of the strap.
once you have removed one side of the strap unscrew the four screws on the case back of the watch.
then you will be able to lift the case back of the watch , it has a rubber seal on it which you need to carefull not to break.
Good luck and be carefull.

module number marked on the back cover of your watch.
Same problem with my SPF-40, module 2273, after a small helical compression spring, silver color, fell out. I could not determine where it is suppose to be located. It could be the barometric reference spring for sensing the barometric pressure.
For all Casio watches go to www.casio.com select "Support" then "Manuals" then "Watches".
You will then be able to enter the 4 digit number in the square box to get the manual for your watch or module inside is actually what the instructions refer to.
The problem of changing functions automatically is called "Auto Display" and can be stopped and started in Sea-Pathfinder SPF-40 (modue 2273) by pressing the bottom left button for 3 seconds.
There is this little spring which fits in one of the small holes in the watch. When I tested my watch without the spring, there was no beep. With the spring in place the sound worked nice again. So (IMO) apparently the little spring is used as contact between the watch en the "speaker" placed at the back of the watch.
held down the mode button- Problem SOLVED :) :) :) can't tell ya how happy, I thought it was retarted totally.
