I've left my Hobart H600 mixer unused for few years, now it's very hard to shift gear to gear, i check gear oil and see it's dry...I add some oil but still can not shift gears. Please help! Thanks
There could be 2 things that happened:
First, the planetary oil had drained out, i did not see much oil when i opened the drain plug, and i add about 7 ounce of 80w/90 oil into it...
Second, i saw the speed selector handle did not line up with the number on shift selector plate, it was between #1 and #2...And i had to pull it very hard to #1.
Then i started the mixer, it's running good, but now i can not move the shift handle cause it's too hard...Thanks for any help.

there are two oils to change. one for the trans. and one for the planetary.the drain plug for the trans. oil should be in back of the planetary take out plug let oil drain ,remove top cover take outstand off where front screw to top cover threads into put new oil in there till you hit line in sight glass on right side of mixer.
take off top cover, where the front screw on top cover threaded into is the fill plug for the trans.drain oil replace drain plug , also ck. sight glass if dark or cloudy replace,@this time.trans. oil can be bought @ any hobartoffice the part# for the trans. oil is102973-66 that will come in a 128 oz bottle you will not need all of it. pour a little @ a time till oil hits line on sight glass. please vote thanks
You can use a heavy weight gear oil or call the local hobart branch for it.To remove oil----Look under the mixer where the beater shaft is in the back and you will see a three quarter inch nut, remove this nut and drain the oil then put nut back in.To fill the unit remove the top cover screws and remove the top,you will see a long hexagon nut in length, remove this and grab a funnel then add the oil---be patient it takes time to fill as the oil is heavy.
