Wireless power does not work

You may experience random connectivity issues when you connect a Windows-based mobile PC to certain Wi-Fi "hot spots." These connectivity issues include the following:
  • The wireless network connection is dropped.
  • You experience poor performance.
You experience these issues if the computer is running on battery power.

Note You may also experience these issues when you connect a Windows-based mobile PC to a wireless access point (AP) in a small office/home office (SOHO) environment or in an enterprise environment. Cause This issue occurs if the Wi-Fi hot spot uses wireless APs or routers that do not support the 802.11 power save protocol.

This issue occurs because of the power saving features that are included in Windows. The default power plan that Windows uses for a mobile PC is the Balanced power plan. The following is true for mobile PCs that are configured to use the Balanced power plan:
  • When the mobile PC is plugged into a power source, the wireless network adapter is configured to use Maximum Performance mode. This turns off 802.11 power save mode.
  • When the mobile PC is running on battery power, the wireless network adapter is configured to use Medium Power Saving mode. This uses the 802.11 power save mode.
When an 802.11 wireless network adapter that is set to use power save mode wants to enter a sleep state, the adapter indicates this intention to the wireless AP. The adapter does this by setting the power save option in its packets or in the 802.11 frames that it sends to the wireless AP. In this scenario, the following behavior should occur:
  1. When the wireless AP receives the frames that have the power save option set, the wireless AP determines that the client network adapter that sent the frames wants to enter a power saving state.
  2. The wireless AP then buffers packets that are destined for the client network adapter.
  3. When the radio of the client network adapter turns on, the client network adapter then communicates with the AP to retrieve the buffered packets.
This behavior enables the wireless network adapter to use less power and to wake up periodically at the correct time to receive network traffic from the AP.

If the wireless AP does not support this feature correctly, the wireless AP continues to send packets to the client network adapter even if the client network adapter radio is turned off. Therefore, these packets are lost. In this scenario, the symptoms that you experience may vary depending on the phase of the wireless connection in which these packets are lost.

Transmit on G/N Only

Set your <i>wireless network</i> to alone acquiesce 802.11g/n clients. If you acquiesce 802.11b clients again as anon as one 802.11b clients connect to the arrangement your acceleration is cut in half. This is due to the added <i>wireless management</i> frames that are appropriate for the "B" guys to allocution to the "G" network.

I can't connect the wireless network even it shows that the wireless connection status shows as follows: connection status: connected network duration: going on signal strength: excellent However, the...

Your router's wireless encryption setting (WEP) has been changed.
Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

How do I get a WEP security # to add a wifi picture frame??

The WEP number is a security code that is programmed into your wireless router through the web configuration page to prevent unauthorized access to your internet.

If this is your wireless network then you must have input the security code (its most probably 64bit meaning ten alpha-numeric digits).

So i have my desktop set up online, but i want to get my laptop hooked up as well and i have a router. how do i hook that up to?

On the right bottom corner of your screen, you should see a message/icon about wireless networks.

Select the icon and you should see a list of wireless networks. Select your network, add your password (if you set up a password) and you should be connected.

Open your browser.

Hope this helps.

Wep key

it all depends. There is usually a way to set it if you connect directly to the router, with a cable, then open up the website 192.168.1.1
When you open that up, you will basically be viewing your router's web page, and in the wireless security settings you can manually set your WEP key. these settings are in different places for different routers, but that's the general idea.

Kodak EasyShare software won't connect to digital photo frame

I had some problems with wireless connectivity with the Ex1011. It turned out to be the connection was breaking when I used WPA security. When I went to WEP it worked fine. My suspicion is that the router was changing the Key over time and the frame wasn't following it. So it would work for a while then stop. But also had trouble even seeing it at times. Anyway, worth a shot. You might try turning off security on the router altogether to see if it makes a difference. Good luck.
