My 50" hitachi ultravision won't turn on

Everytime I press the power button, the power light comes on and after a few seconds it comes off, and there is nothing happening. This thing happens to my tv every once a month or twice. But most of the time it happens to my tv, I just keep pressing the power button for about an hour until my tv starts. Do you know any appropriate and easier solution for this problem?

55vg825 hitachi rear projection won't turn on about 1 in every 10 tries. Usually will after 3 or 4 attempts. Today 20+ attempts and it won't turn on. I unplugged the lamp and plugged it back in...no help.

    I'll phone Hitachi tomorrow.

I have a 60sx12B/13k that is a 96 model. It too will not come on. I hear the click and see the red light but then nothing. there are lights on the board glowing green.

Hate to trash it even though it is dated because it had such a great picture.

I see ideas of testing picos and cold solder joint as a culprit. Is there a manual on internet that lists where these fuses are on my mode. Also if I just put the board in the oven on high for a few hours will that fix the cold joints(ha).

I have this same exact problem with my UltraVision 50UX19K. At first it started just sporadically. Now, I don't think that the TV's worked since April of 2008. I'm bummed. Was given to me by mom, (me step-dad bought it new in the nineties) and I have been watching this tv for over 12 years. Want to get it fixed, but not sure if it's possible, and don't really want to go out and pay 2 grand or more for a tv of comparable size (it's 52 inches).

I HAVE A 10 year old Hitachi 70" Ultravision Model #70SBX74B. For months I have had an annoying flickering of the picture which seemed like a bad cable somewhere. It seemed to get worse or occur more often or on que when writing was flashed on the screen, or when I brought up information through the info button on my cable control. I changed out wires and the problem persisted. It occured when I played a DVD from a separate DVD player or program from cablevision. Picture and sound otherwise was always excellent.
Yesterday I had the TV on and left the room and when I returned it was off. I am unable to turn it on at all now. The outlet is good, and when the power cord is pulled and then reincerted after a few seconds, the red POWER LED will light momentarily along with some Green LED's on the main board inside the cabinet, then they all go dark. No sound or video is ever present. Any ideas. I am technically capable of working on the TV but I would need some direction. I want to guess that something in the power circuit which had been a slightly intermittant (flickering) problem has finally failed altogether. Is this possible and /or do you have any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

Mine is doing the same thing... My DirecTV remote is not working with the TV for any command, since the problem started... So I can get the power lights to come on, but no picture at all... This occured all of the sudden.. No storm, no outage, no problems otherwise..

TV turns on for 2 second and then it is off

Your TV may have detected an error. Try first to have the TV unplugged overnight just to clear it out then observe it after turning it back on.
