Your fluorescent tube or the board driving it is bad. Have the tube checked out before you spend a lot of money on a circuit board, this is not something you should do yourself especially if you are not a TV service technician.

Screen black

Here's the test to determine which board is faulty. With the TV on, as usual, shine a flashlight on the screen to see if there is a faint picture. If there is, then the ballast board for the backlights is bad. If there is no visible picture, then the T-Con board is bad. No screen boards found. Do you mean any of these? Types of TV Boards Every TV uses a collection of various boards to perform every function imaginable in a television. The boards work together to produce sound and images on a television screen. When certain mechanisms in a TV fail, it might be time to start testing different boards to see if they are functioning properly.

Main Board

The main board is the central hub of a television circuit system. The easiest way to identify a main board is to find the board with the various video and audio inputs/outputs. Generally speaking, main boards also contain a tuner, HDMI, USB, and S-video port. Main boards are one of the largest boards in a television. Main boards might also be referred to as a motherboard, main module, or an A/V board.

Power Supply Board

Another large and important board inside a television is the power supply board.. Usually found in the center of the TV, the power supply board has several connectors that supply power to the other circuit boards. It can contain transformers, large capacitors, and integrated circuits. There is usually a table on the power supply board indicating the different voltages it produces in addition to the signal names.

Inverter Board

Found on LCD TVs, inverter boards are used to mount the LCD backlight. These are smaller boards, usually shaped like long thin rods. If an LCD TV's screen is dark, distorted, or difficult to see, it can be the result of a defective inverter board. Inverter boards fail when inadequate power is not allowing current to pass through the backlight bulb.

Timing Control Board / Logic Board

The timing control board, known as the T - CON board,, is typically only found on LCD and LED TVs. Plasma TVS, on the other hand, use a logic board.. The functions of the logic and T-CON board are similar, as each functions to digitize the information it receives from the TV's processor. This allows the screen to display images on the pixel level. When the T-CON or logic board fails, the screen images may become distorted, leading to pixelation and the appearance of lines on a television. On a logic board, there are slotted connectors on all four sides, while T-CON boards have connectors on just two sides.

X-Sustain and Y-Sustain Boards

Also known as the X-SUS and the Y-SUS, the x-sustain and y-sustain boards only appear in plasma screen TVs. The x - sustain board might also be called the Z-SUS. These boards function similarly, producing proper screen images. Although they serve pretty much the same function, the two boards work independently of each other. The x-sustain board activates all the display lines at once, while the y - sustain boardaddresses all the individual lines of display. When one board breaks down, it probably will not affect the functionality of the other. However, it might be a good idea to have both replaced because X-SUS and Y-SUS boards have a relatively short life span anyway. A failure of one could mean an impending failure of the other.

Buffer Boards

B uffer boards are also only found in plasma screen TVs. Connected to the y-sustain board, a buffer board works to turn output to the plasma display. Common defects of buffer boards include the burning and shorting of power lines. TV Boards Buying Guide

Hitachi p50h401 the power light keeps flashing

If you have a flashing red light, try this first: The flashing red light is, according to the Hitachi service manual, an indication of exactly one problem. It is that the fan (internal, blows air over the power supply heat sinks) has failed. In my case, it failed by continuing to spin (very confusing), but put out a signal (3V on the white wire of the fan harness) that it has failed (I had to look up the data sheet on the fan to figure this out). A new fan from Arrow $10 fixed the problem. If you suspect your fan, spinning or not, you can safely short the white to the black wire to see if your TV remains on after being turned on (solid red light), and then try turning your TV on (blue light) to see if it works.

I have a P50H401 I heard a Pop and the screen went black and wont come back on..

That POP that you heard is most likely the end of the line for that plasma TV. From your description it sounds like the Z/Xsustain board has failed in your tv . The cheapest way to repair this of course is to buy that board and replace it yourself. This is not as difficult as it may sound if you are handy with a screwdriver and used to repair things like your own pc or your car etc. Second cheapest option would be to buy that board yourself to avoid markup prices and have a pro replace it for you.

I have a hitachi p50h401 tv. when using the hdmi input i do not get sound out of the rca audio outputs. how can i get sound out the rca outputs

Check the manual. I doubt that the rca audio is for output. More than likely it's the audio input when using composite video.
