Why did it suddenly stop working?

the "pat answer" is the magic smoke leaked out. all electronics work on magic smoke, once it gets out of a device, the device wont work anymore. OK smoke comes from burned out devices. Point the remote at a digital camera and watch through the view finder, does the led in the remote light up? (you cant see it with the human eye) if so next step. plug the dongle into the TV, select the correct input and point the remote directly at the window on the dongle and try to operate the fire stick, if it works, you may need an HDMI EXTENSION cable (male to female) to move the dongle to a position where it isn't blocked from the view of the remote. Also, can you operate it from your computer using Google Chrome and the correct firestick extension? (incase the remote isn't infrared operated)

There are over 200 possible combinations for TV and DVD codes. The most common codes are tried first but you may still need to press the Fast Forward or Rewind buttons over 200 times to find the correct code for your device.
