It may be either your sound card, or the input of your speakers, you can chage your sound card in the pc (if that doesen't work then it's from the speakers) i don't recommend opening the speakers yourself, and trying a repair unless you have a minimum knowhow of electronics, try an electronics service place.

My Lenovo Thinkpad SL500 is saying that no audio output is installed. How do I install both speakers and head phone jack?

- Is the mute button activated? Usually located at the top row of keys on the keyboard and has a build in light that lights up when activated.
- Do you have Realtek installed?
- Did you connect the speakers/headset and turned them on (if possible).
- After connecting the Speakers/headset, restart the pc while leaving them on and connected. If the driver is missing, it should be asking for one when it restarts.

I plugged in my Altec AP3 Speakers to my computer running windows 7. It does not play. i get sound directly from my PC (it had sound prior to plugging in speakers) however the Altec speakers have no sound

Hello
You haven't specified from which computer source you connects this device with. If it is from the audio out socket of the PC, your PC's audio card [or onboard audio] dirive hasn't been installed yet. Unlike WinXP, Win-7 haven't all driver software in its driver cab when it is installed. If onboard sound should energize, the mother board CD should be loaded. There is audio and video drive [normally NVIDIA] drive should be installed. Anyway, you have to install the dirve. Now it disabled. Go to the hardware confujuration of your system, and look whether onboard audio is disabled. If it is disabled, inable it. If there is no driver installed to it, the system will ask CD. Then insert the CD into the CD tray, and follow the instructions. If your Win-7 is registered, you can get diretly into Microsoft site, and can download the driver needed. OK.

My desktop speakers not working but cable all plugged in and audio device working.

Hi tamjidzaee ,

Please follow the below steps to solve the problem that you have mentioned :-

  1. Check if the sound driver has been installed in your system, you can check this by going in the control panel's sound and audio devices option , if you find all options disabled and it reads no playback devices and no recording devices, then you have no sound driver installed. Therefore in this case you would require to install your sound driver using your motherboard cd.
  2. If you see your sound driver is installed in the audio options of the control panel and you also see the sound driver's name , then you need to check the volume in the volume settings to check if it has not been muted accidentally , if it has been muted , then please un mute it and things should work fine.
  3. A good idea would be use a headset and plug it into your motherboard in the slot where the speakers output is received , mostly the green round slot.
  4. If you have a front head phone option then you can try using it as well, if the headphone or headset works fine, then we are sure about two , things that the driver is installed successfully and there is a sound output from the audio output slots.
  5. Now, when you have checked the sound via headsets then you need to make sure that you are connecting your speakers in the green slot or the same slot which is working for headsets, remember headsets can be used to check the output in the back panel of your cabinet as well as front panel of your cabinet.
  6. Also check if there is any fuse in your speaker which has blown up so that you can replace it and it would start working, check the power cables and confirm they are not properly connected.
If the speakers work fine , then it's all ok , but if they don't you need to replace the speakers by checking them with your friend's pc or any other audio output device.
Hope his helps.

Hello, I have an Intel R Pentium 4 CPU 3.06GHZ mother board and I am unable to hear sound on the computer. Please assist, thanks.

Hi, have you verified the following:

- Tested sound output from the speakers (connected to the speaker port)
- Tested sound output from the headphones (connected to the headphone port)
- Checked to make sure the system's sound isn't muted or turned down

If you've tried all three of those things and still can't get any sound, try reinstalling your sound driver (or updating it if there is a newer version available). It should be on the disc that came with your computer, but if not you can download it from the Intel website.

If the new sound driver doesn't fix the problem, your motherboard's sound capability or speaker may be bad. Rather than replace the motherboard, you can purchase a cheap sound card and just install it in an expansion slot, which will give you sound capability for a lot less money.
