Im trying to hook up my direct tv cable. All of the cords are hooked up correctly but I can't receive a picture, just audio. I tried to do the channel surf thing but that didn't work either. Please help.
Ok, thanks for the info. In the back of the tv, what you are doing is connecting just the audio from the Direct TV box. Most new tv don't have the yellow RCA input since this is an analog component, and most of the new tv's are digital. I know the Direct TV box does have the white, red and yellow RCA cable, but it also have the HDMI output (this means going out of...). Just get yourself an HDMI cable which you can get now for some $5.00 to $10.00 and connect it from the Direct TV box to the back of your TV. Make sure to read the label where you connect the cable ( HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc...). Once connected, turn your tv on, your remote control should have a key called "input" or "source", press that key until the correct input is display, (HDMI 1, HDMI2, etc...). If everything is correct, the TV should display the Direct TV programs. Best of luck.

Take the audio outputs on the TV set and connect up to the The video 1 inputs to the receiver, BUT use the audio part of the video 1 input and leave the yellow video input blank. Now turn on the TV set, put the TV set on a channel, turn on the receiver and select the video 1 input and you should have the TV audio coming from the receiver. Good Luck.

Hook up Composite / Component Monitor Out wire from receiver to TV video input because receiver will not change analog input into HDMI
You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

Do not use HDMI thru your receiver. Go directly from the Cable box to the TV. Connect coaxial digital or optical to your receiver. Your receiver uses HDMI version 1.1 or 1.2, which is riddled with issues. If you want to read about them, Google HDMI Problems and you can read for hours. Long of the short of it is; Don't pass HDMI thru your receiver, use the receiver for audio only. Hope this answers the question. Sorry for the bad news! I'm in the industry and have been dealing with these issues for a couple years now.

Put the receiver in stand by mode (amber light) and hold on the tone button for 8 seconds. This will reset the receiver. After it says reset, let go of the tone button and wait about 30 seconds. Then hit OSD and you should be good to go.

Hi Daniel Evans, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? What is your set up? Are you connecting directly to the tv or is there an audio system in between?
So I have a direct TV cable box and a tv. The TV has a red and white (no yellow) jack in the back. I connected them but I only got audio, no picture. I can provide pictures if needed.
