Denon AVR-887 and Wii

I'm dealing with the very same frustration. Best I can tell, the problem with my setup is that this model (avr-887) can't pass component video input out through HDMI. Can anyone confirm that?
Prior to setting up the Wii, I'd only been using a single HDMI output from the denon to my tv/monitor.
The only solution I've found is to add a component video output to the monitor -- which is unfortunate. I'd much rather have only the single HDMI out.
Would love to hear if there is a way to set this up without having to add the additional component output...

Denon AVR-887 turns itself off in 5 secs, any one

You might have the polarities on the speakers crossed, check all speaker connections to make sure the pos and neg are connected correctly. If they are crossed, this will cause the receiver to short out, thanks

My Denon AVR-887 Keeps turning itself off

I have one and the same thing happened. try resetting your microprocessor and if that does not work, then check the wiring of the speakers. if that is working fine and no wires are touching then I unplugged everything and was still having the issue. took it in for service and it was found that the transmitor was shorted as the speakers that I was using was too high in ohms. it is possible that it could be your caps also if resetting the microprocessor does not help. You can find out how to reset the microprocessor from your manual. If you have the Denon avr 887 with the system turned off hold the power on button and the speaker A and B at the same time for a few seconds. This is compatible to rebooting your computer. Hope this works for you as this was and is my husbands favorite past times.

Missing some cable connection betweenboards. Check cable. If all cable intact connected try-unplugging cable one by one then power ON. Plug back unplug other one. Start from cable, which attached to HDMi board.

Denon avr-887 code for comcast silver remote, red key. The 2 codes comcast gives me do not work. Any other codes known?

These are the codes that I have from a few extra sources. They are for ALL Denon receivers/tuners: (3 digit = 262,307)For the AVR all numbers consisting of a 4 number code, all begin with a "5". Here they are: 5006, 5048,5054,5085,5129, 5130, 5131, 5132, 5133, 5134, 5152, 5159, 5160, 5168.I was able to get my 529 rc to program some of the features but I will go back and try other codes that may have a better "fit" and operate more features. Hope this helps!

I have a cable box

I don't know what kind of TV you have and what kind of output capabilities you have but, while your receiver will transfer your video signal, it is not the ideal way to hook it up. The port you are using may have to be reset somehow or, may have gone bad. Ideally you want to hook all video componenets directly to TV then, use, digital optical is best, audio out from TV to receiver. If you have more than 1 input in to TV, you can run your PS3 and cable box directly to TV, using the TV's menu to select which you are using, then, run your audio out to receiver.

I get sound from my

you need to change the input on the tv to whatever input your dvd is plugged into. an alternative is to use your denen avr as your video changer as well. most surround sound recievers will have a vidoe input as well as a vidoe output. if you route your cable right when you switch between your dvd and tv signal on the Denon, you dont have to change inputs on the tv. hope that helps.

The power turns off seconds

Try the reset procedure first. The procedure is as follows:-- With the system turned off hold the power on button and the speaker A and B at the same time for a few seconds. Then turn the power to the system On.Keep all the 3 button pressed for one minute then release. Then check out. 1) unplug unit from  power . 2)Hold the power on button speaker button on unit. 3) Then replug the power to the unit.Keep the buttons pressed. 4) Keep all the buttons pressed for a minute. 5) Then check. If the reset is not helping then its the electrical problem in the internal board. In the unit there is a power supply circuit board. On that circuit board there are lots of electrical components. Also there is a thermistor on the power board. If this components gets short or thermistor gets faulty then the power board will get overheated and shut off after few seconds. In this case the components on the board needs to be checked and faulty should be replaced by re-soldering. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
