I own a Proton TV Model No.VT290 I am trying to add two extra speakers. I plugged into the back at the audio "OUT" receptacles. No sound. I made sure the speaker switch is on. I checked the polarity of the wires.I placed the copper wire on the red terminal on back of speaker and attached to the center pole of the phono plug. There are other controls on the front of the TV.I'm not sure if I might have turned off a switch for these external speakers. Please advise.

I have a jvc 40in model LT 40A 32C.THERE IS NO SOUND FROM SPEAKER OR EXTERNAL SPEAKER PORTS.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the sound issue on your JVC TV:
  1. Check the volume level: Make sure that the TV volume is not muted and the volume level is high enough to be audible.
  2. Check the connections: Ensure that the audio cables are properly connected to the TV and the external speakers. If you're using an external audio device, check its connections as well.
  3. Try resetting the TV: Turn off the TV and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on.
  4. Check the audio settings: Access the TV's audio settings menu and ensure that the sound mode is set to "Stereo" or "Mono". You can also try changing the audio output settings to "TV Speakers" or "External Speakers" depending on what you're using.
  5. Try using a different audio device: If the above steps don't work, try connecting a different audio device to the TV to see if the sound works. This will help you determine if the problem is with the TV or the audio device.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that there may be an issue with the TV's audio hardware, and you may need to contact a professional repair service or the manufacturer for further assistance.

You should be using 2 audio jacks. Not one. Its normal if audio is cut from tv speaker when connection is made. Use a 2nd pair of speakers from your stereo if u want additional sound.

How do i connect hammacher wireless speakers to a toshiba smart tv

Model of both the TV and speakers, please. For example, without the model of the TV how is anyone supposed to know which inputs/outputs it has?

Edit: Dan, Thanks for providing the model numbers. I was hoping the solution would be something simple like switching the audio from internal to external speakers in the TV settings. However, when I looked at the owner's manual http://support.toshiba.ca/support/ceg/manuals/LEDTV/40-50L3400UC_E.pdf it appears that the rca jacks you tried on the back of the TV are inputs for old VCRs, DVD players etc. rather than an output which would be needed to send an audio signal to your speakers. In this case you will need to use the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT on the back on the TV. In order to use this you will need to purchase an Optical Digital Toslink Coaxial to Analog RCA converter. Make sure it uses a larger Toslink connector and not a mini one. The Toslink cable will plug into the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT on the back of your TV and then be plugged into the converter device. Your white and red RCA cables will go between the converter and your speaker transmitter unit. In addition the converter will have a power adapter that needs to be plugged into a wall outlet. There may need to be some audio settings changed in the TV menu to get this to function properly. It's best to buy from a retailer with a good return policy just in case it doesn't work.
Hope this helps.

Im trying to hook my insignia flat screan tv to my mitsubishi M-VR900 recevier the tv has plug for audio out and recevier has a tv audio in red/whit plug and i have 2 speakers i have on the front spearker...

Go into the onscreen menu of your TV, find and select the audio options. Make sure the audio out on the TV is enabled (this might be an automatic feature and might not be displayed -it depends on your TV model). Next make sure your receiver is working and (if it is so equipped) make sure your speaker switch is enabled.
Make sure all of your cables are working. You can do this by switching out the cables one at a time for ones you know are good.
Make sure no headphones are plugged into your receiver or the TV -this usually turns off your audio signal to any speakers.
Your TV remote may be equipped to control the volume output of the external audio out signal. Some TVs automatically turn off the internal speakers when you hookup or select an external audio output. turn up the volume on both (your TV and the Mitsubishi).
Does the Mitsubishi work on other sources (DVD, radio etc...)?
Remember to double check your cable connections -audio OUT from the TV to audio IN into the Mitsubishi. Reversed connections can damage your TV and amplifier electronics.
What model is your Insignia? Some are equipped with digital outputs which, if your receiver is so equipped as well, can send surround sound (home theatre) signals to your receiver. These can be orange-colored rca jacks or optical jacks. They do not send analog audio signals.
Once all the cables are double-checked, (double-check your speaker connections!), turn on your receiver, TV and signal source (cable, satellite DVD etc...), bring the volume control (both on the Mitsubishi and the TV) up to nominal levels. You should hear sound.
One more thing:
Make sure your speakers work. You can try them on another amp or simply touch the speaker terminals with a 9-volt battery (the speakers should move in or out depending on the 'phase' of the connection).
Hope that helps.

How to find JVC AV27320 headphone jack? I've plugged into the avs(red & white) in the front panel as well as the extra ones in the back. Altho - I CAN hear the sound thru the headphones, The external...

This model doesn't have a headphone jack. The only JVC TV in the series that does is the model AV-20D202. For the JVC AV-2732, use the RCA audio out jacks with an RCA to 3.5 mm adapter to connect to the headphones. The front audio jacks are audio in (for the audio from a video camera for example).

When you use any external speakers or headphones through the audio out jacks, make sure to turn off the TV speakers. Press Menu and navigate down to TV Speakers (up/down arrows). Then use the right/left arrows to select Off and then Exit the menu. Make sure you scroll the TV volume before doing this. Note: if your headphones do not have a volume control they are a bad choice for this type of audio output.

You can find the manual for the TV here: http://books.jvc.com/booklist.asp?Model=AV-27230 .

I wish that I had better news for you.

How to activate external speakers....we plugged them in and not working

Try to switch the audio option in the menu of your tv from TV speakers to Audio speakers (or whatever yours might say) I don't know your TV make and model, or if you have a surround sound system but since you are connecting it, I'm guessing it's fairly new, so it should have that option in the menu. Make sure the volume on the sound system is not muted (my husband actually did that the other day) and that the wires that go to the back of the speakers are in the correct position. +to the + etc.
Hope that helps.
Good luck :)

How do i hook external speakers to sony bravia television

The proper way to do this would be to use the audio output from the TV, either analogue left and right or the optical port, and send it into an dedicated amplifier or AV receiver. You can then use the amplifier or receiver to power the external speakers. If you are using a dedicated amplifier with no volume control you will want to change the audio output setting on the TV to "variable out" as oppose to its current "fixed out"settings. You can find this in the TV menu, usually under the audio settings. This will allow you to use the current TV remote to adjust the audio volume coming out of the external speakers.

How do you add more speakers to gpx under cabinet dc/tv dvd player model number kcld 888 6dt

If there are no extra speaker output jacks - then it was not meant to have extras and you really should not add any.. If you do - it would change the ohmage and it could damage the amp..

Have a nice day ;o)
