You have to push some buttons to tell the MAIN unit to scan, then put battery into the REMOTE, set channel, and hit reset through a little hole. And the MAIN should see it.
Try pushing the reset button on the inside of the battery compartment of the remote unit then push the reset button on the back of the main unit (you'll need a paperclip or tooth pick to push the buttons). If that fails I'd start from scratch by removing the batteries from both the remote unit and the main unit then replace the batteries to the remote unit first and push reset, then replace the batteries to the main unit and if necessary push the reset button on the main unit too. Hope this helps.
I have a thermometer with an outside sensor. It's necessary to remove both batteries, wait a few minutes, then replace batteries - sensor first. It may take a few minutes for the inside clock to pick up the signal. If it doesn't, try again with new batteries.
I've had a similar problem with another model, an Oregon Scientific Model IWA-80055 Wireless Thermo Clock, in which when I replaced the batteries in the remote sensor, the clock would not read the temperature from the remote sensor.
I found it fairly consistent to solve this by taking a battery out of place in the clock and putting it back in. Unfortunately this also messed up the clock's time and date. This is also in the instructions catalogue for the device, check and see if yours gives a similar solution.
Try replacing the AA batteries in the main clock/display unit - that worked for me, then you'll probably need to press the reset button next to the AA batteries, and maybe the reset button next to the AAA batteries in the remote unit - press reset on the main unit first. My remote is now registering and the red light is flashing, but I don't know how to reset to the correct time and date - it's been scanning for a while and found nothing...
