SOURCE: Tecumseh 4.5 HP mulcher lawnmower - engine runs fast

there are a couple things you can do to maybe make the mower run without choke being on, remove the carb, disassemble float bowl and use a bread tie to clean out the jets and tubes. while you are inside the carburetor float assy, check the nut that holds the float bowl and make sure that the small hole is open, to test this yiu can blow into the hollow of the nut and see if there is air escaping or not, this entails getting the taste of gasoline on yiur lips, but a small price to pay as oposed to a mower shop service charge. i remedied my problem with a bread tie to clean the jets(openings) some are large enough to use a small paper clip. once you are relatively sure yiu checked and cleaned all the tubes, jets, and holes, reassemble the carb and put it back on and give er a yank see what happens, you'll probably find this worked and fixed your problem,

SOURCE: i need to know how to adjust the carbureator on an

If it has a float type carb, open it 1.5 turns. If it has a diaphram open it one turn. If it has a Walbro carb, there is no adjustment. Once you get the engine started you may adjust the carb to fine tune. Open until it begins to lose RPM's then close until it starts to lose RPM's. Return to a point between the two. Good luck...Lee

Tecumseh engine model tvt691-600811a---i need a diagram of the carburators numbers on carburators are 5172DOB

You may already know that Tecumseh ceased business about 2008. It seems Barrett Small Engine has some of the literature on Tecumseh engines & parts. Try this link: http://www.barrettsmallengine.com/tecumseh/parts.html

Hope this helps,

it is on the carb. side of the mower a arm comeing up where your carburator linkage hooks up that arm has a bolt on the bottom you loosen it and adjust the idle speed but a word of caution if you have never done this have a person with experience help you because it is not easy.

Have a Troy-Bilt Chipper/Vac model # 47282 5hp sp, the Carburator needs to be replaced, I cannot find a part # for it, or where one can be purchased, please help

I believe the carburetor part number for your model is 632631. I have the same TroyBilt chipper/Vac. It has a Tecumseh H50-65582W engine. A good parts diagram can be found at

If this is the right part, you can buy it at Jacks Small Engine parts for $79
Good Luck!

I will try again here.
1 wire link from the top hole in the governor arm to the throttle on the carb. There should also be a wire link with a spring that goes from the Governor arm to the speed control handle.
