Perhaps you did select a SCN mode, with the main dial. Or chose a wrong white balance setting. Please switch the camera to the green loge on the main dial (auto mode) and check if that gives a better result. Start experimenting with other settings when you have a little more experience with the camera. Auto will give perfect pictures in 99% of all shots.

SOURCE: What causes a pink section at bottom of screen when turning camera on?

Hi there:
Some symptoms of a defective CCD include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

A CCD problem would explain the lines on your pictures and the lines on the LCD (since the CCD is used to feed the live image). CCD (Charge Coupled Device) is one of the two main types of image sensors used in digital cameras.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value. This last step occurs outside the CCD, in a camera component called an analog-to-digital converter.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details:Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Lcd display has red tint in all modes. Preview for pictures are red/pink. Lcd is red/pink with the lense cap on too. When pics are uploaded to computer though they appear to be fine.

There may be a bad connection to the screen which will need to fixed by canon. But before sending, try removing and reinserting the battery, it might be a glitch that clears after the battery is removed.

Pc does not find camera

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Hello Cathy, The "AF" means auto focus, The pink screen and the lines are a camera fault, you are going to need the camera checked to see what the internal problem is, it is not something that you are doing wrong, it is the camera.

When looking through the display screen the picture has a pink tinge. When reviewing the pictures they're definately pink in colour, especially the blues.

Try taking pictures and download them to a computer. Check the colors and evaluate the quality compared to what you have seen in the LCD display.
If the pictures are good and the colors seem to appear good on the computer, then some thing is either not adjusted correctly for the LCD or you may have a menu setting which is incorrect. Check all setting in the menus.
Test the camera again, and see what the colors look like in the LCD display.
If both the LCD display and the pictures on the computer are the same, then some problem exists in the camera, and may need fixing, or sell on a site such as Ebay for parts or repair as is.
