I have all these extra Windows and toolbars open while watching a movie on my laptop with Power DVD 12 or something. And can't get them off. HELP!!!

Identify the toolbars and attempt removing them from your programs. Also check your msconfig and/or service.msc windows for mention of the toolbars and click them off.

If you have some cohones and are careful you can use the regedit command to go into the registry and delete any and all items with the name of the offending toolbar.

And if the stuff is being caused by malware u can try running malwarebytes to identify and remove offending germs.

I prefer Google as my home page, but somehow Amazon keeps popping up. I have tried to keep making Google my home page and Amazon does it again. Please HeELP.

Hi,

This is usually because of a toolbar under name CortonExt but it usually manages to return after you disable the toolbar in your browser and uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Try booting to Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key repeatedly at boot time until the menu appears and selecting Safe Mode. Once in Safe Mode uninstall Corton from the Control Panel and then open your browser (if you have more than one do this for all) and from the Tools > Addons section disable CortonExt, if you get the option to delete it then please do so.

Open Computer and delete the following folders if they exist
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corton\
C:\Program Files\Corton\

Reboot back into normal mode and reset your homepage. Let me know if it comes back.

Speed up a Sony Vaio Laptop Model PCG-5B1L

Start by installing this program CCLEANER found here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ Run the cleaner, registry delete the results. Go to TOOLS> STARTUP disable all programs you do not need to start at windows startup. Next, Install MALWAREBYTES found here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ Run a FULL scan , delete any results. NEXT, open IE9 in the top right corner of the page is a "gear" icon, left click>Manage add-ons, Toolbars and extentions, disable any TOOLBARS and the add-ons you do not need, move down to Search Providers, delete ones you do not use. Toolbars and extra search engines are killers on IE speed. Trim the weight to speed up you web broswer. The more that added to your broswer the slower it's go to be. Same with your laptop at startup.

I have an extra toolbar on my laptop screen

Hi, there are two ways. One way, is through Add/Remove Programs. And the other way is through Internet Browser by Openning the browser and Clicking Tools/Manage Add-Ons/Toolbars (on left pane)/ Highlight Which Toolbar you wish to Delete, and hit Delete (towards bottom of screen). I always do both methods. I also recommend running the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Tool to make sure there aren't any kind of Virus present. Here is the link to download the free software:
