  3. From the View menu, choose Displays.
  4. Click the Arrangement tab.
  5. Enable (check) "Mirror Displays" in the bottom-left corner.
In the example below. the blue boxes represent each display that is connected. The white bar at the top of both boxes represents your menu bar and is shown on both displays when they are showing the same information.

When mirroring, your Mac attempts to match the closest resolution between the primary (or built-in) and secondary displays.

The usable resolution is the closest matching resolution for both the primary and secondary display. If you choose a resolution that is not supported on both displays, OS X reverts to usistop one mac screen from becoming multiple screens - lion_close_match_resolution.pngtion.

Extended desktop With extended desktop, your displays are treated as one, continuous desktop.
  1. Make sure each display is properly connected and powered on.
  2. From the Apple (?) menu, choose System Preferences.
  3. From the View menu, choose Displays.
  4. Click the Arrangement tab.
  5. Disable (uncheck) "Mirror Displays".
In the Displays pane of System Preferences, each blue box represents a display that is currently connected. The size of each box is relative to the current resolution of the display it represents. In the example pictured below, the larger box on the left represents an Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display, while the smaller box on the right is the built-in display of a 13" MacBook Air (Color LCD).
The white bar at the top of the left blue box represents the menu bar you see at the top of your display. Menu bar placement determines which display is treated as the primary display in OS X. To change your primary display, click and drag the white bar from one blue box to another.
You can also drag any of the blue boxes to change a display's represented location. Use this feature to make stop one mac screen from becoming multiple screens - lion_mirror_change_display.pngatch their real world location when navigating your desktop.

MacBook Pro took a drop, boots up but nothing on the screen.

The screen, the cable that connects to the screen or something internal has taken a hit. You'll need to get it serviced to find out which. Sorry, but there's not much diagnosis we can do from a distance.

Whenever i try to turn on my macbook it starts to turn on then it just stops while on the startup screen. What can i do to turn it on?

This can be caused by multiple reasons, but I would suggest unplugging all devices plugged in such as USB or eject any cd's in the drive. If none of the above applies I would suggest re-loading the operating system from the original DVD.

What to remove green and red lines from screen

Single or multiple colored lines running verticle on the screen is one of two things. The first being that the main video cable from the motherboard to the back of the screen itself has become unseated or is loose in its socket. Reseat the cable and observe the picture. The second being the screen itself is going bad and cannot be serviced. The screen at this point has to be replaced.

Screen switches from application back to desktop

Open your System Preferences. Go to Dashboard & Expose. This is a very helpful application in my world. Whenever you want to see all the windows, hide windows, start screen saver, you just push your mouse into the appropriate corner. Sounds like you have a corner set and when you hit it, you trip the effect. Change the corner and check them out, Handy to use when you have multiple windows open. Experiment and see.

"Back to my mac" stopped working

Under the Apple Menu, go to System Preferences>Internet & Network>File sharing. Look to see what is checked and not checked. It seems like you may have sharing enabled on yours in more depth than sharing is enabled on dad's. Be careful about enabling online sharing if you have any online banking or other sensitive info on that computer.
