The answer you want here is no. If you choose yes the Handycam will erase the data on the DVD-RW and get it ready for you to record on again. Now the disk is finalized thats the end of the burning process and the disk is done.
You should not need another '3840 to finalize the disks. Finalization just ends the index, makes writing back to the disk near impossible. You should be able to finalize / close the disk using a dvd authoring program (Nero, CD BurnerXP, etc).
The catch may be that the disks that you created are formatted as DVD video, closing a video disk may not be the same.
Another possibility is to use an authoring program (like the above) to copy your un-finalized disks to fresh media, and specify the disks to be finalized (or closed) when completed. I would try this first, the only thing to lose is time, and a disk. Oh, and about 4.7GB of hard disk space to create the image if you only have 1 DVD drive.
I have had loads of people ask me this question in just 2 weeks, so it often does happen okay? Anyway you should not have to do a finalize on the disk, because when you stop filming, the camera reads it's end bit to the DVD auto, then after a few seconds you should be able to open the camera door.
Well this sounds like the disk was removed too fast from the camera before it had ended writing, you need to stop filming, wait at least 1 minute then remove disk because it ends the disk write not you yourself.
most dvd recorders have setting to finalize at the end of a timer generated recording, or to fianalize when the disc reaches the end and runs out of room, check for one or both of these settings in the setup menu of the recorder
I have the same problem,, Maybe we have the wrong ac charger???? I don't see anywhere on the camcorder that will connect with my ac adaptor. I have no manual, I got the camcorder from a fleemarket...
Try this. In your SETUP options, ensure that AUTO FINALIZE and FINALIZE AT END OF TIMER are turned OFF. Insert DVD to be finalized. Press SETUP button. Be patient. Once DVD has loaded the DISK FINALIZE option will be available. You can then FINALIZE. I found it cheaper to get DVD-R from Radio Shack (about $5 for 25) for VHS movies that I know I want to keep. They do record up to 6 hours, even though the packaging is unclear on this point. Picture quality is as good as the expensive DVD's.
bad dvd what brand uuseing to burn with philps is touchy are u addingto much to a dvd also i would do mor ethen 4 gb on a dvd 5 disk ok single layer burn it slow does it have a speed adjustment do 4x 8x max
I have been working throug a stack of 25 Windata, the cheap ones. DVD +R/ They have been working 100%, every time. The only problem I have is when I leave machine to shut itself down because I am not there to stop it at end of movie.. The disk becomes so full that I cannot get to disk to finalize and it will never play on another machine. When I hit the Disk Edit on such an overcrammed disk, the drop down menu with Finalize at bottom does not come up Only the hand with the red crossout sign over it comes up..
