SOURCE: Water collects and freezes in the bottom of the freezer

Your defrost drain is clogged. Get all the ice out and get to the defrost drain hole at the very rear bottom of the freezer. I use a piece of plastic tubing to run down them and clean them out, but you can use a piece of wire if it doesn't have a sharp end that will damage the tube. You can also remove the rear cover of the fridge and you will see the tube going from the cabinet to the drain pan and clean it from there. Post back if you need further help.

SOURCE: JCD2389DES Water Leak Problem

Once I saw that the drain tube went up over the coil before draining into the evaporator pan I decided to buy a small piece of flexible plastic tubing and re-route the tube so the water could freely flow down hill. It's been over two months with no additional problems. I can assume that since the water drains freely it doesn't stay trapped in the elbow freeze and the cause the collector tray to ultimately overflow.

SOURCE: Jenn-Air freezer leak

Apparently it is the drain behind the freezer panel on the inside and it is blocked. It needs to be unblocked and cleaned. You remove the food and the rear panel on the inside of the freezer. With a hair dryer (carefully) remove all ice build up and then unblock the drain line going to the pan under the refrigerator. The drain line can be cleaned with bi-carb and hot water (not boiling).

SOURCE: drip pan needs emptying; had repairman out for other issues, now fridge keeps overflowing

The accumulated ice you saw is of course the source of the water. The refrigerator will eventually rid itself of the excess ice and the problem will therefore disappear on it's own after a while. The drip pan is normally filled with only a small amount of water, and that is dried up by the condenser cooling fan under the fridge. The pan is removable from most units, but not without making a mess. I suppose you can make and clean up the mess one time and be done with it.

Sometimes the drain can clog with ice. If this is it - simple fix. Empty the freezer and find the drain. Put hot water in the drain with a turkey baster or try using a hair dryer to thaw the ice and let the water drain. A small amount of water drainage through this drain is normal. The water sits in a tray underneath and evaporates helped by heat from the compressor. If the drain plugs, the water will build up in the bottom of the freezer and become an ice block.

Where is the defrost drain

Back behind the metal "wall" at the rear of the freezer, there is a raised "shelf" with the drain in it. Pull our freezer racks or shelves, remove a few screws, renove sheet metal "wall", and you will find it at the bottom there.

Water collecting under the freezer drawer, then freezing

We just had a similar problem with our Maytag side-by-side in the bottom of the freezer. Just as you described...sort of a glacier on the floor of the freezer that slowly melts toward the door. After several attempts to remove the ice, only to have it form again, my husband spoke with a helpful sales person in an appliance center. He said there's a drainage plug/line on the back that's supposed to funnel condensation to the evaporation tray underneath. It gets clogged and frozen. Sure enough...my husband pulled out the freezer, opened the visible line and it was all frozen and full of gunk. He had to use a hair dryer to thaw it out, then flushed it. It was amazing how much stuff came out of there. We've had no more problem since.
