Unplug for a few hours with doors open to do two things 1 to cool down compressor that got to hot from no fan running and to melt ice off coil in the freezer. There is an internal overload built inside compressor and will stay hot with constant power, thats why you need to unplug. Also check bottom coils where fan is and make sure not blocked with pet hair or debris.

Sounds like you have a bad compressor. Try putting a hard start kit on the compressor and see if that helps, if not might need to change out compressor

Hi, With the information you supplied I’m going to assume there is an ice build up at the rear of the freezer. Your problem is going to be with your defrost system. I will also assume you have the ability to repair this yourself.
This is going to be one of three problems with your refrigerator, 1st thing to do is remove shelf’s and panel in the back of the Freezer. You may see ice build up on the evaporator, don't worry get a hair dryer and melt the ice.
Next locate the wires for the defrost heater and using a multi-meter/ohms meter test the heater for continuity (it should read infinite) if the defrost heater is bad replace it.

If the heater is good test the defrost thermostat. This should normally be done when the evaporator is still covered with ice since it will only activate at 40f - 50f depending on the thermostat. When tested with the ohms meter at below 40f it will read infinite. It is normally clipped to the upper right of the evaporator and look something like this:
The next possible problem could be the defrost timer. If you have tested the heater and thermostat and they have tested good next find the defrost timer, If your refrigerator has a mechanical one it will either be located inside the control panel in the fridge or behind the panel below the doors. Once you have located it advance the dial until you hear a click. This will initiate the defrost cycle. If your heater begins to get hot this will tell you that your timer has stalled and needs to be replaced. A typical mechanical timer looks like this:
If your refrigerator has a digital defrost timer you should locate the tech sheet. Normally you can find this behind the panel under the doors. It will tell you how to initiate a manual defrost cycle. As before if the heater gets hot you will have to replace the mother board normally located behind a panel at the rear of your refrigerator.
If your fridge is warm and there is no build up of frost/ice on the back panel inside the freezer then you problem is most likely going to be the evaporator fan, have you heard the fan running in the past few hours? if you are not sure pull the panel out to where you can see fan and watch it over the space of an hour to see if it turns. If you don’t see it turning replace the motor. This is what a typical evaporator fan looks like:

Reminder function monitors the life of the
filter and provides a reminder when it is time
for the filter to be changed.
When the system detects either 12 months
of usage, or the filtering of 416 gallons of
water (whichever comes first), the CHANGE
FILTER indicator light will illuminate. This
indicates that the water filter should be
changed and the light reset.
To reset CHANGE FILTER light: Press and
hold the LIGHT and LOCK pads until the
CHANGE FILTER light blinks (approx. 3
seconds). The control is now reset for 12
months or another 416 gallons.
Note: The Water Filter Reminder will
operate if the filter bypass is in place.

There should be adjustments in the hinge assembly. Go to Jen-Air .com, then select parts. They will have diagrams to view for repair, adjustment etc.

Hello Johannson; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. Every 8-10 hours your unit goes through a defrost mode. This is where everything shuts down with the exception of your lights and your defrost heater turns one. The defrost heater will turn on for about 20-30 minutes to defrost the cooling coils (evaporator) behind the back wall of your freezer. Your defrost heater is generally a black steel bar about 3/8" in diameter. It is located beneath the freezer cooling coils. The sound that you hear is the condensate dropping off the cooling coils and hitting the hot defrost bar. Everything is good. This is how your unit is suppose to work.

heat rise to the top, so the top will always be hotter than the bottom, it is reccomended to store things that can handle slightly higher temperature at the top and more temperature sensitive food at the bottom, althou i do not know how hot it is, so if it is nearing room temperature something is definitely wrong, either a coolant leak, a worn out compressor or a defective temp sensor

This is the most common reason that water runs out the door. the defrost drain plugs up and the condensate water will run out the door.

Use brush and vacuum cleaner. 1. Unplug the fridge, 2.Remove rear bottom cover and also front kick plate. Use bottle brush and vacuum up all the lint.
