SOURCE: washing machine will not spin or drain

look at my post "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". It could be something stuck in very lowest part fo drainage area. you have to remove the motor on bottom of washer to see into this area and remove blockage.

Hi Dale..
It sounds like you have a leaky inlet valve assembly. The part number is 421029P and is easy to replace. You can get one here:

Hi there
That fault is the pump blocked error (no change in water level).
i have a quick and easy way to solve this problem.

first turn the machine off then tilt the machine back and lean it on something(a chair or wall), look underneath, in the top right hand corner of the plastic outer boul you will see a small pump motor it has a fan on it spin this fan and if it is hard to turn that means there is somthing stuck in the drain pump keep turning the fan and try to free whatever is stuck in the pump, then try the machine on spin again all goin well the object in the pump should come out with the drain water(doing this will not harm the machine) if the object is still stuck you will need to get the water out of the machine (bailing or siphioning will work) and tilt the machine back again and take the wires off the pump and there should be a white tab on the boul holding the pump on pull this tab and twist the pump anticlockwise about a quarter turn(you will need a few towels or a boul or bucket to catch the water) and it should come off exposing the blockage.
Hope this solves your Problem.

SOURCE: Our Fisher & Paykel Washing Machine is not

Emptied washer, tipped it on its side, detached drainage pipes underneath, and pulled out old fabric/lint/blockage with tweezers. Plugged in, switched on, all good.

How do you resolve Fisher Paykel fault code 249

From Service Manual for 249 error

249. (11111001) SmartPump Timeout Fault (No change in the water level)
While draining, the water level reading from the pressure sensor has not changed for 3 minutes.
This fault will generally be caused by a problem in the pump system, from either a blockage, or restriction in the pump system. This fault will also flag if the machine is 'By-Passing'.
Primary Source: Pump System
Action: 1) Check that the drain hose has not been kinked.
2) Check the length of the drain hose. A 1-meter extension
hose of the same diameter fitted to the existing drain hose is
the maximum allowable length.
3) Check that the machine is not pumping to a head that
exceeds the pumps limits (2.4metres is the maximum head
height).
4) Remove the inner bowl and check that the pump hood hasn't
been fitted around the wrong way.
5) Check for lint streaming from the pump hood that may be
blocking the pump cap inlet.
6) Remove the pump hood and cap, check for lint, grit and
debris.
7) Check for free movement of the impeller and that the impeller
hasn't come off the rotor.
8) Check for free movement of the flapper (replace if broken or
damaged).
9) Check for lint and foreign object in the ports of the pump
housing.

Decoding Fisher & Paykel Electronic Washing Machine Fault Codes

The Fisher & Paykel Smart Drive and EcoSmart electronic washing machines are equipped with fault detecting software to help easily determine the cause whenever a problem occurs. Not like other electronic washing machines, these ones do not have displays to flash the code, but rather use the eight (8) light-emitting diodes (LED) of the Wash Progress indicators to indicate the fault code. The eight (8) LEDs stand as an 8-bit binary number (zeroes and ones) that must be decoded and then converted to the decimal number system to get the fault code.

The fault code can be decoded by determining which Wash Progress LEDs are lit. Once determined which of the LEDs are lit, write down the 8-bit binary code; 1 for lit LEDs and 0 for the off ones. For example; the final wash, rinse, and spin LEDs are lit; the binary code is 00001101. This in turn can be converted to the decimal number system by multiplying each digit with its corresponding place value then adding up the result. From left to right, the place values are 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1 respectively. Therefore, the decimal equivalent of 00001101 is 128(0) + 64(0) + 32(0) + 16(0) + 8(1) + 4(1) + 2(0) + 1(1) = 8 + 4 + 1 = 13; the fault code is 13 which is a pump fault.

Once the code is determined, search the web for the meaning and indicate it when requesting for an online assistance to facilitate a quick and precise response.

I have a fault code 249 from my Fisher and Paykel 8kg washing machine. What does this mean?

I didn't know the codes went this high! it will be a motor controller fault I would suggest, as all other faults above 140 are motor controller.

What does fault code 30 mean on a Fisher and Paykel washing machine Model GWL15/IWL16?

it means that the two electronic boards in your machine are out of sync and need to be reset. just turn the machine off at the wall for a minute and then back on. if this doesn't fix the problem, you will need to replace one of the boards, which one is unknown until you try.

Fisher paykal top load washing machine

I had the same problem. I unplugged the machine for a while (overnight) and it then worked properly when I plugged it back in. Probably just a circuit board issue that was cleared with the power removed.
