Dell studio one optical drive makes a chattering noise and ejects the cd after 2 seconds

Although you will rarely be able to repair your own CD player, you may be able to diagnose problems.

That can help you decide whether to have it repaired.

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules

Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source.

Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer.

While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards

Check all connections, such as from player to amplifier or receiver and receiver to speaker. Check and clean contacts on RCA jacks and cables and try a different input on the amplifier or receiver.

Clean the lens.

Use only a special CD lens cleaner and follow the instructions carefully.

Check the traverse assembly (the metal rod that the laser travels along and the gear that drives it) if CDs aren't recognized or won't play, frequent skipping occurs at random, CDs randomly get stuck in one spot, the player can't find tracks correctly, or cleaning the lens doesn't work.

Dust and lint may be interrupting its function.

Have the laser-head assembly checked by a repair person if the traverse assembly seems intact and free of debris.

Check for a stuck CD if the drawer won't open or close or will only partially open or close.

If there isn't one, have gears and belts replaced.

Lubricate the gears if the CD player will only play certain tracks or up to a particular point on a disc.

Look for broken plastic parts, such as gears and clips.

Look for loose or broken internal connections.

Have the power supply replaced if your CD player overheats.

If your player won't recognize a disc, make sure the CD is properly loaded and not scratched, and that the lens is clean.

Hope this helps.

C.d.s get stuck and now tray wont close

The problem is in the loading bay, sometimes 2 CD's will get jammed locking up the system, or the timing gear is out of sync, or possible broken gears.

CD player will not open

is there power? if there is and it does not open then probably something is either stuck in it or the gear is not any more functional due to gear issues or the motor of the gears are not anymore responding.
When ejecting does seem like it is trying to open but it won't then it is a gear issue, I do not suggest prying it out.
Have it opened and checked for something that can be stuck or if the gears are somehow damaged or not properly seated in their place.
Have it serviced for checking possible this is just a gear issue and the player may still be working and in tact.

Cd player stuck open. Also need a wiring guide.

gears could be broken, do not push in, you will need to reset the cd player and open the unit up to see whats jamming it.

Alpine Mp3/CD Player

hmmm if you bought the alpine deck originally your best bet might be to call them, and see about getting it properly repaired. otherwise, check craigslist or ebay for broken alpine decks with the tilt function. should be pretty easy to fix. also you could open up the cd player and check to see if maybe something just slipped off.

Fisher CD-RW1000 2-Disc CD-dvd stuck in player

hmmmm.... try to take off the cover of your dvd player and observe it.(if you try my advice, try it in your own risk and with caution) then check the tray maybe there is something got stuck in there and also check the gears, if nothing, a belt just came off. check the motor too, I guess It has 2 switches too. clean them up. and then try to power up.

note:
(keep you fingers away at the power supply section)

The face won't open

Can you pull the face out? If there is no sound at all coming from the head unit (besides the beep) there's a good chance the gear motor that controls the movement of the face is stuck or burnt. Now if there's a clicking sound, the gears may skipping which can be wear'n tear or misaligned gears. I wouldn't call you player done for though. I would take it out, inspect the motorized face machanism and post what you see.
