My calculator is not giving me answers to decimal places

You should press SHIFT then MODE (setup). Then press 2. Done! If you want to change it back, just do the same again, but press 1.

Are you using a ti-89? If so, check your mode settings and change Exact to Approximate.

Haven't heard of it giving nearest whole numbers before. But have you tried pressing SHIFT and then SETUP (upper right hand corner next to ON button) and then pressing 2 (LineIO)? Or perhaps you're in different MODE?

Your BA II PLUS stores numeric values internally to an accuracy of 13 digits. However, the numbers it displays depends on the number of decimal places to which you have it set (choice of 0–9 or floating decimal). To set the number of decimal places displayed to three: hit [2ND][FORMAT][5][ENTER]This setting also continues indefinitely (even though the calculator is turned off and on) until it is changed.
