Have someone else look at the machine, I'm not sure about the last guy. Do smaller loads to ease up on the machine. It will last a lot longer doing more, but smaller loads.

Does the dryer have a moisture sensor? if it does that may be the problem.

When you get that error it means one of these two: the hard drive is dying or it doesn't support the S.M.A.R.T. technology. If you are sure it's SMART capable, then it means it's dying.
