If you are using a generic toner, replace it with cartridge from Brother. Many of these are caused by using a refilled cartridge or a generic cartridge. Use a cleaning sheet and run it though a couple of times, if this does not clear it up you need a new cartridge.

if you're getting 3 - 4 dots on the side of your page ( and they look almost equally apart), this can be caused possibly by a generic toner BUT those dots would be located on your drum component. If you remove the drum and look very carefully you should be able to see the dot cooked on the drum. You can try cleaning it with a damp cloth(very gently) or take a little q-tip dab it in a bit of water and just a little bit of rubbing alcohol and apply it on the dot. Dry it gently and wait about 30 minutes before putting it back into your machine. If the issue continues, it can be a generic toner, the type of paper you are using (possibly envelopes because of the glue getting stuck).

SOURCE: Black spots are appearing on the left margin of the page. It's only six weeks old, so I don't think it's the cartridge or drum. Is there another solution?

SOURCE: Brother printer prints solid black on one side

This is caused by a faulty drum/charging circuit or laser unit. The drum is positively charged with static electricity and a laser draws the image onto the drum (changing the charge to negative) the toner is positively charged to it will adhere to the negatively charged image which is now on the drum. your problem is that the drum is either not being positively charged or the laser is charging the whole drum. There is a corona wire on the drum, remove the drum, sweep the corona wire (there will be a tab that moves left and right) and try it again. next step is to replace the drum. if you dont have a spare drum or one from another printer then it may be more cost effective to buy another printer as drums are quite expensive and it may not even be the problem.

SOURCE: black dots on printed page from Brother 9440 color laser printer

The problem lies with the black toner cartridge. This is a common problem in these machines due to poor design by Brother. Best solution is to replace the offending color toner cartridge.

I have a 525DN Brother Printer which has started printing a line in the middle of the papers and dumping ink out of the left side of the cartridge - do you know what may be wrong?

Thin line? Print a diagnostic page (3 pushes on the go button) and try changing the toner cartridge or drum, depending of the page says.

Changed colour cartridges but it still says drum error

The "drum" is where the laser adds/subtracts an electrical charge to each spot on the drum.

The printer "throws" the powdered-ink at the drum.
The ink sticks to the "charged" spots, and does not stick to the "non-charged" spots.

Then, the printer puts a sheet of paper in contact with the drum, and the ink is transferred to the paper.

Then, the "fuser" heats the paper & ink, and "melts" the ink into the paper.

So, changing the ink-cartridges will _NOT_ fix any "drum" problem.

Fuser Problem?? The ink does not cover the left side of the page

Pull out the toner/drum and on the backside there is a blueish/purple tab, it slides from side to side along a corona wire. Move the tab back and forth several times and then put the toner/drum back in and reprint.
Below are the instructions on how to accomplish this task.

My printer consistently prints black dots/blots on the left-side of the page (2-3 per page). What can I do to get rid of these dots?

Make sure the printer cartridge is not punctured or damaged. You can check this by taking out the cartride and look for ink spilled on it.

My brother printer is printing with 2 blind spots in the same area of each page.

Could be that the ink (or toner) is running low. Does it say the level it's at?

When i print from the brother hl2040 printer there is a ink spots running down in the page. how can i fix this problem?

It sounds like you have damage to either your transferr roller of the drum, you could try running a laser printer cleaning sheet through it a couple of times but usually the only way to sort the problem is to replace the part that is causing the problem.
Take the drum out and turn it by hand using cog at the side to turn it to see if its marked.

Faded print on one side of page

I have a SCX-4100 Samsung, replaced the tonger cartridge, it was working fine for a few hundred sheets of printing, but after that, the left side of the page was printed very light, faded.
If I run the "Clean Drum", it will print a litter better, but still faded.
What can I do to correct this problem?
Thank you
