My Samsung ML1710 won't pick up paper
First, pull the tray out. Next, look for a WIDE rubber roller
right in the middle of two smaller black rollers, that's the
one you want to clean! Grab a lint-free rag (important!!),
get some alcohol. Next, dampen the rag with the alcohol and
start wiping across the wide roller so that when you rub your
finger tip across it, your finger barley budges, this means
it's completely clean. Now, here's the trick, there's a
black, thin lever that hangs down on the left side under the
bottom of the printer, this detects the paper level, it's
hangs loosely and you can push it up easily with your finger.
With the tray still pulled out, push the lever up so that the
status light on the printer turns green. Now, if you're close
enough to your computer, send one page to print while keeping
that lever pushed in. What you want to do here is watch as
that WIDE roller turns over to the other side where there is
still dirt that needs to be cleaned off. You've got to be
fast and time it right so that you can turn off the printer
as the WIDE roller flips to the other side, cause once it
gets there, you've got to turn the printer off to stop it
dead in it's tracks. Getting another person to help would be
best for this task. TRUST me, once you get that whole roller
cleaned with alcohol, it works like new!! :)
