Try doing a hard-reset on the unit. There should be a little inset button on the rear of the unit where you can press it with a pen or paperclip. With the power supplied to the unit, press and hold this button for 10 - 15 seconds until you see the indication/status lights change their pattern. Sometimes all of them will become solid lit, sometimes they will flash, just keep your eye out and look for it. If you dont notice anything, then just make sure you give the button a solid 15 second hold. It can't hurt.

After you do this, try logging into the configuration page and resume setup. Sometimes routers crash. Most all of them are built on the Linux operating system and a crash or glitch is bound to eventually happen. A proper reset usually fixes things like frozen ports, broken wifi or other problems that just seem to appear for whatever reason.

Good luck!

The router installs fine on one lap but I still can't connect my other laptop

your first option is to go to http://192.168.0.1 Here Select admin from the drop down menu and leave the password field Blank.

Once the page loads youll see a series of options. this is the routers linux interface section. you will see D-link on the top left.

Select the first option Install router.
the steps would be as follows.

Step 1.
Insert the Router Setup Wizard CD in the CD-ROM drive. follow The step by step instructions. Once you done this And i believe you have already. see step 2

Step 2.
go to http://192.168.0.1 Here
Select the Option
Setup on the Top > Internet is on the left side.
Under the Internet connection Wizard Hit the Setup Wizard button.

Step 3.
Now on the Setup page Same place where the setup Wizaed is. just below their is another option called Wireless Security Setup Wizard.
Press the Launch Wireless Security Setup Wizard Button.
Read the 3 steps then click the next button to continue.
Steps for step 3.
1. Enter a SSid this will be the network name you see when you want to connect to your own network. example.. MyHome
2. Select your security option then click next. (For simplicity chose WEP)
3. click apply.and let the router reboot.

when it comes back online you should see your network you just setup. our example was MyHome.
If you are new to router setup. use the Wep security called Good on your routers security WEP. and just write the key it gives you down. this is the code you need to connect your devices and is considered ok for a simple home network.

How to instal

Hi,
You'll wanna check out: ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WNR1000_SM_WW_23Jan09.pdf
Look for "installation"..
To help you set up your router and get on the Internet quickly, the Resource CD contains a Smart Wizard™ Installation Assistant. The Installation Assistant walks you through the steps required to connect your router, modem, and PC(s); configure your wireless settings; and enable wireless security for your network. When you have finished, you will be Internet ready!
You can set up your wireless router using one of two methods:
• Smart Wizard Setup: The Smart Wizard Installation Assistant setup is available on your Resource CD. See "Installing Your Router Using the Smart Wizard" on page 9 to use the Smart Wizard Installation Assistant.
- This is the easiest option. The wizard guides you through the setup process. It automates many of the steps and verifies that the steps have been successfully completed.
- Smart Wizard requires a PC running Microsoft Windows.
• Manual Setup: If you cannot or prefer not to use the Smart Wizard Installation Assistant, see "Manually Installing Your Router" on page 13. For example, if you are connecting to a Mac, are using a Linux operating system, or are technically knowledgeable, select this option. If you choose to use this option and install your router manually, for best results, install and set up your router in this order:
Failure to follow these guidelines can result in significant performance degradation or an inability to wirelessly connect to the Internet.
NETGEAR does not recommend or support adding a NETGEAR router behind another router, or replacing a gateway with a a NETGEAR router.
If you have a Macintosh or Linux system, you must use the manual installation method (see "Manually Installing Your Router" on page 13).Getting to Know Your Wireless Router 7
1. Install and connect your wireless router to your network (see "Connecting Your Wireless Router" on page 14).
2. Set up your wireless router for Internet access (see "Setting Up Your Router for Internet Access" on page 18).
3. Configure your wireless network and select wireless security settings to protect your wireless network (see "Configuring Your Wireless Network" on page 21)

Need set up Lexmark C534n to our office network.

Does the printer have an IP already assigned to it?

Print out a network settings page:

Printing a network setup page
If the printer is attached to a network, print a network setup page to verify the network connection. This page also
provides important information that aids network printing configuration.
1 Make sure the printer is on and Ready appears.
2 From the control panel, press .
3 Press until Reports appears, and then press .
4 Press until Network Setup Page appears, and then press .
After the network setup page prints, Ready appears.
Note: If an optional internal print server is installed, Print Network <x> Setup Page appears.
5 Check the first section on the network setup page, and confirm that Status is “Connected.”
If Status is “Not Connected,” the LAN drop may not be active, or the network cable may be malfunctioning.

If that is an IP not on your network, then you need to change that IP to an unassigned IP that is on your network.

You can do that by typing in the IP of the printer into a web browser (example: Http://ipaddress)
Then you should be able to modify the IP address from here.

Once the printer is on your network, make sure you have drivers for it installed and then just map any worksttaion to it.
