Despenses only crushed ice not cubes
Take the ice container out of the freezer, there is a metal rod that sticks out behind the ice container, You should be able to move this up and down to open a flap inside front of container to allow whole cubes to get through. In rear of freezer there is a hole that this rod sticks into. You will see a plastic square shaped actuator hanging down. It sould be completely down, and you should be able to move it up and down easily with your finger. If not then it is either frozen or it has failed. If it seems to be hanging about half way down, take a hair dryer and warm it enough that you can move it up and down. Once it is all the way down, reinstall ice container and try for cubed ice again.

on the bottom of the bin there is a metal rod, this goes into the back wall where the solenoid is. find the square hole it goes into, pull down the white plastic piece with your index finger. you should here a clunk. now put the bin back and check to see if ok. if not you may need to replace the solenoid assy.

Behind the ice bucket is a metal housing that holds the auger motor and solenoid. The solenoid is bad. When you go for cubed ice that solenoid should pull up the metal rod on the ice bucket so full cubes will come out. First check to make sure the metal rod on the ice bucket isn't somehow caught under the solenoid and not letting if move up and down. You can take out the ice bucket and press for cubed ice. You should hear a loud clunk noise. If not then you know the solenoid is not working.

hi.
I slid out the tray, found the lever in the back where the rod went in, pulled it down, reinserted the ice tray, and IT WORKED! At first I thought I broke the lever, because I had to hold it down with a knife while I was inserting the tray, but it just must have been stuck.

There is an opening next to the auger that dispenses the ice. In there there is a lever that must move up and down. It actually seats the metal rod on the bottom of the ice maker and controls cube or crushed. Make sure the lever is down (cube position) when you return the basket to the freezer. I had to hold it down while I slid the rod into the opening. Cubes again. http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/showthread.php?t=783

SOURCE: Ice maker only dispenses crushed ice, won't dispense cubed ice anymore.
I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.
I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.
SOURCE: Ice Maker GSI-26 dispenses crushed ice and will not dispense cube
You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid
