The iFP-795 is a player that has connection type UMS
(also called MSC): seeing the player as a removable disk:
Go to next site to see the connection type:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0300
and click on connection. Scroll down to see the iFP-700 series listed in the connection type UMS.
UMS = Universal Mass Storage
MSC = Mass Storage Class

With XP sp3 the computer Operating System has setup USB connections with new drivers, that support both UMS (= MSC) and MTP connections.
MTP = Media Transfer Protocol

When you experience next making connection:
Connecting the device to the computer Wizard found new hardware pops up.
Only this time the Windows update searching for software will not work on automatic routine: ending up with "Cannot Install this Hardware".

Manual performing the wizard, setting the device to USB connection type:
1. Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software ?
Select "No, not this time".
[Next]
2. If your hardware came with an installation CD, or floppy disk, insert it now.
Select "Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)."
[Next]
3. Please use your search and installations options.
Select "Don't search I will choose the driver to install."
[Next]
4. Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware.

My pc cannot recognize my sciphone I68 dual sim via USB Cable

switch on the phone, then connect to usb. on your phone you get 3 options, choose mass storage. on your pc, open explorer, and navigate to external disks. there should be 2 new ones; the first one is the memory card, the second the internal memory of the phone.
the drivers are 'generic' so no need for a cd.

My sony cybershot DSC-W35 digital camera says Format error

Hello,

In regards to your settings on your camera, I would suggest trying Auto first and then Mass Storage second. Auto in theory should detect the proper settings needed and adjust automatically. Mass Storage setting would treat the camera with your card like a flash (thumb drive) and would work also, however the software included with your camera will most likely work best with the auto setting. One quick question before we get too deep into this, is the card in your camera a brand new one or does it have pictures on it?

C170 trouble downloading

Make sure the camera is on and pc is selected on the camera screen when connected to the computer. You will need to have PC highlighted and select ok on the camera as this starts the camera and computer to communicate. Once communication established the LCD screen of the camera goes dark and the computer should generate a removable disk drive. Check the System Tray (lower right corner beside the PC time) for Safely Remove Hardware. When you click on it, it should read "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device Drive ?:" If you dont see that, then check the Device Manager to see if the camera is recognized as USB Mass Storage Device. The camera uses the driver usbstor.

Troubleshooting Steps for Windows USB connection issues

It can sometimes be difficult to setup a digital camera on a new computer. Usually the process is simple: plug the camera in, allow the system to install the driver and begin using the system, however, sometimes things can go wrong. Following these steps can solve more than 90% of problems relating to USB connection issues. You must be thorough and follow it step-by-step. What CF Card is installed in the camera? A large number of problems are caused by incompatible CF Cards. In many cases these cards will work while shooting but can fail to properly download to the computer. You must be extra careful that the card is approved. Actually look up the card you are using in the manual to see if it on the list. Many retailers include "Unapproved" cards in their bundles, so just because a card came with the camera doesn't mean that it is "Approved". If in doubt, use the "Nikon Starter Card" for testing. Is the Camera in Mass Storage Mode? While PTP mode can be used if your camera and operating system (Mac OS X and Windows XP) supports it, for troubleshooting it may be useful to switch to MSC USB mode using the camera's setup menus. Are there images on the card that can be viewed on the camera in playback mode? Nikon View will not auto launch or give a transfer window with no images on the flash card. If you have covered the first three items you should now connect the camera to the rear USB port (not through a hub or front port) on the computer. On all Windows systems excluding Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) ("Plain" Windows 98 is not supported.) make sure the Nikon View CDROM has been removed from the system prior to connecting the camera. Does the LCD Display Screen go dark after being connected for 2 seconds? If you are not getting the "Found New Hardware" wizard then check the LCD display. If the display stays "on" and the camera seems to be in Shooting mode or Playback mode then you may have a bad cable, camera USB port or computer USB port. If this is the case, contact Nikon Support for more information or Click Here for more troubleshooting. Does "New Hardware Wizard" Start? If you connect the Camera and a "Found New Hardware" wizard comes up you should allow the system to auto search for the driver by simply clicking the "Next" button until it is finished. (Windows 98SE requires the Nikon View CD-ROM to be in the CD-drive at this point.) On Windows systems newer than Windows 98SE the camera should pick up and use the Microsoft Mass Storage driver. "Hardware Handshaking" You need to understand how hardware handshaking works. The hardware Handshake occurs when a USB device is connected to the USB port. The computer detects the USB device on the USB bus and asks: "What are you?" The Coolpix line of cameras should answer: "I am a Nikon Coolpix 5700 currently set to Mass storage mode." If the computer does not understand this message the most likely cause is an incompatibility with the USB chipset on the partic
