Maytag Neptune toploader interlock system "tabs" broken

Some agitators at the top have a plastic lid that has a bolt under it holding the agitator in washer. Take the bolt out and agitator should come out of washer.

The Washer lid and top base and base cabient can be sanded primed and rattle can touch up. You won't have the nice finish.

The tub is fiber glass or some molded plastic so I assume your are speaking about the metal parts ie. lid, washer top base and cabinet.

There are some parts on e-bay from time to time such as 25001117 Lid (white) FAV6800AWW

it has probably got a interlock that is brocken inside hence machine will not work try opening the lid and replace the lock unit ...good luck kev

Disconnect the machine from power source then insert a plastic putty knife or similar tool in line with the lid seam and push in to release catches on the left and right side. The top cover can then be hinged up.


Once the top cover is raised, remove each of the 1/4" hex-head screw attaching each lid lock to the top cover.


Release the lid locks from the lid then reinstall them back into the top cover. Take the opportunity to visually check the lid locks and the harnesses for any obvious sign of degradation such corrosion and broken wires.

Either the pin on the lid has broken, or the switch mounting bracket has broke or the screws losened and the pin cannot push the switch enough. If the switch is mis-positioned, you'll have to open the washer top and check out the switch mounting. Goodluck< Macgivor

Manual Door Unlocking Procedure for Maytag Neptune Top Load Washers

1. Safety first. Unplug the machine.
2. Insert a plastic putty knife blade in the front edge of the machine between the top cover and the cabinet and in line with the lid seam on the left and on the right.
3. Push in to release the latches holding the top cover to the cabinet.
4. Lift the front of the top cover and release the lid from the lid locks.
5. Disconnect the wiring harness from the lid locks. Clean the terminals to ensure good connection.
6. Reconnect the lid locks wiring harness and push the top cover back into the cabinet until the latches lock up.

The lid lock is bad part # is left side  25001048 runs around $80,the problem tends to stem from the dispensers water and bleach work their way into the switch and I have never had much luck cleaning them out and getting them to work.. and that is left hand side as you are facing the machine. 

1. Remove top. 2. remove left side lock accuator. 3. open accuator case. 4. Solder small broken wire back to diode. 4. reassemble 5. enjoy.

Evidently the "OP" code indicates the lid is "open". Solution in my case: I had to replace a wire on the lid switch that a
had rusted and no longer connected to the switch resister.

There is a magnet in the left, front corner of the plastic lid insert. When the lid is closed, this magnet sets on top of the tan colored plastic pad on the left front top of the base washer unit. When the lid is closed, the magnet activates two, small metal rods on each end of a resister within the white. You have to pop up the top of the washer base to gain access to the switch, Good luck,
