Question about Insignia NS- 27" TV27 TV

1 Answer

White lines at the top 3-4 inches of the screen.

I am getting white lines at the top 3-4 inches of my screen. I believe the problem is the vertical size is too big and the picture is folding back over the screen. I use to work on tvs back in the 60s and we adjusted the vertical size to correct this problem. I tolld the back of of the tv, but was unable to fine any vertical size adjustment. Is there a service code that I can enter from the remote to access the vertical size adjustment?

I get a strip about 4-5 inches of fine lines at the top of the screen

What you are experiencing is called “vertical fold-over” the vertical size of the picture is too big on the top and is folding over, causing retrace lines to show on the screen. The reason why it comes and goes is because it is caused by a leaky cap in the vertical circuit.
Replacing this capacitor will fix the problem, finding it is another.
If you are handy with a soldering iron and would like to attempt the repair. I will try to help you.
Let me know.

CRT TV with a white line half way up the screen

Hello,

The white line is result of a Vertical failure. Believe it or not, the whole picture is contained in that one white line, but it is not spread out from top to bottom on the screen.

Usually, a vertical failure is IC or capacitor related. Should be an easy, fairly inexpensive fix for a competent repair shop.

Hope this helps you...

Horizontal line in my TV.

"Guest" obviously has no idea what he is talking about. There is no such thing as "frame section" and if the vertical IC, ramp generator or vertical hold circuits were bad, you would have no vertical at all. If you mean that there are thin white lines at the top 3 inches of the picture, and the top of the picture seems folded back on itself, it means that the pump-up capacitor is going bad in the vertical output circuit. This is a very easy thing to correct but should be done by a qualified tech.

White Horizontal Lines near the top of my Screen

this symptom is what we called vertical fold-over. vertical fold-over is characterised by a white horizontal bar on the bottom or top of the raster due to the concentration or compression of the trace lines. it an image is present, the bottom or top portion is fold over. this is caused by a vertical deflection current with poor linearity, which compresses the trace lines at the bottom or top of the screen. this symptom is is caused by a defective sawtooth wave genetator circuit, or improper biasing or defective feedback circuit of the vertical drive or vertical output transistor/ic. the negative feedback circuit in vertical deflection circuit compensates for the linearity of the trace portion of the sawtooth wave. a decrease in the capacitance of the sawtooth generator capacitor is usually the trouble. but if you do not understand anything what i have written here, better bring it to a qualified tv technician for your own safety also. good luck!
