Does it open, when connected to ANY OTHER computer?

If not, it is "dead".

There are services that fix these. You can Google the companies or ebay has some. If you dont have important data on the unit then just buy a new one. You can also try the drive in another computer. Try all the usb ports and wait for 30 seconds to see if it detects.

Iball pen drive 4gb repair

Connect it to other usb ports on pc,if still not detected then go to disk management,open run and enter diskmgmt.msc press on ok,.Now right click on it if you find it and format the device,you can also try it on another computer and see if it works.

Note: If the light on the device is not on /blinking then its definitely dead and can no longer be used and you will keep on trying ion vain as also no data can be recovered from it.

I can not use iball pen drive 4gb on windows 98

you will need the USB drivers to use the flash drive on windows 98..if you have the cd then install the drivers or look at the iball website

pen drives generally have 3 to 5 years warranty, if your pen drives are not detectng on other systems also, its better to replace it

Make sure that there is nothing blocking the connection posts in the USB Connector housing incasement.

This unit sounds like it is dead from the manufacteur, I would return it and get a replacement if you just bought it... telling the place where you purchased the unit that it is not working properly.

These USB Flash devices are plug and play units; and from the looks of it, they can be used in any Windows based Operating System PC.
