Clogged hose... I have a clog in my hose, probably a sock, I have pushed it through to the hard plastic handle end of the hose, help! can the plastic handle wand be disconnected from the hose to remove the clog??? Thank you

If you can safely remove the whole hose the best way is with compressed air or I sometimes use a long flexible wire to pull it out.

The hard plastic on the ends is pressed on and not intended to be removed, careful with that.

You need a metal coat hanger nd a pair of pliers.
You will straighten out the coat hanger with a pair of pliers, except the end that you hang the clothes hanger up with, because it has got the hook already made..
After you have gotten the hanger straight, you will take the hook of the hanger and make a smaller hook that will slide easy into your hose with the hook being able to catch the sock ...once it has caught the sock, then twist it a few times so that it will get caught up in the sock really well...then pull the sock out of the hose...Job done.

A clogged hose is the most likely problem. Disconnect hose at both ends and try dropping a coin through it. If clogged, use a broom handle to push clog back through.
If the hose isn't blocked, check the tank where the hose attaches. Just inside clogs often form. Clean if necessary.
Check the filter, and change if dirty.

It is if the motor overheats. Overheating can be caused by several things. Clogged pipes, hose, wands, or power nozzle, or a dirty filter are the most common.
First, disconnect the hose from the wands, plug the hose into the wall outlet, and check the suction. If it's weak or non-existent, there's probably a blockage in it. You can double check by dropping a coin in one end and lifting the hose until the coin drops out the other end. This can best be cleared by using a shop vac or air compressor to blow air through it from the wall end. Plug the shop vac hose into the exhaust port, with the other end in the wall end of the hose Turn on. If this doesn't clear it, you'll probably need to take it to a repair shop.
Visually check the wands. If clogged, simply push it out with a broom handle.
With the wand detached, drop a coin into the wand opening of the power nozzle. If it doesn't fall through, use a wooden spoon handle to push the clog back through toward the brush. Clear it from there.
Check the filter. Remove it and rinse thoroughly. Allow it to air dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
If none of these help, the vacuum needs to be taken to a repair shop for diagnosis and repair.

Is there suction at the end of the hose? If not, the hose is clogged. Generally the blockage is located near the handle, but sometimes at the other end. Occasionally, if something long, like a straw, is sucked up, it will get caught somewhere else in the hose that's impossible to get to.
You can try to hold the wand end of the hose directly to the CV tank and turning it on. This should clear the clog. If not, hold the handle end to the blower of a shop vac or canister and turn it on. The other end should be either in a large plastic bag, inserted in the in port of the vacuum, or directed outside.
If there is suction at the end of the hose, the most likely place for a clog is at the elbow on the power nozzle or just behind the brush. This can be cleared by using the handle of a wooden spoon or similar blunt object to push the clog back out toward the brush.

If none of these help, take the vacuum to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for assistance.

This is an indication that there's a blockage in the airflow system. Check the hose, power head tube, and behind tank filter for clogs. For the hose and PN, you can detach the hose and drop a coin in one end. If it doesn't roll out, there's a blockage and it needs cleared. Try using a broom stick to push the clog out from the tank end. Or place PN end of hose to the tank in port and turn on vacuum. This should clear the hose.
For the PN, drop a coin into the hose connection. If it doesn't drop through, there's a clog in the PN tube, probably at either the elbow or behind the brush. You may be able to clear it using longnose pliers to pull needles out from the hose end, or try pushing out with a long, dull object. A wooden spoon or spatula handle will work fine.

Have you checked the screen filter below the bag? This sometimes gets clogged with fuzz and whatnot, resulting in the vacuum shutting off. To clean it simply remove the bag and use a pick or similar item.
A clogged hose will also result in the same problem. Try running without the hose. If the vacuum runs without the hose a blockage in the hose is a probability. However there could be a clog in the power nozzle above the brush, as well. Check the suction at the end of the hose. If very little there's a good possibility this is the problem. Double check by dropping coin in one end and allowing to drop through. If it doesn't there's a clog. It can usually be cleared by plugging the hose into the exhaust port and turning the machine on. Be sure the other end is inside a large plastic bag.
Visually check wands to ensure they're clear. If not, push clog out with a broom stick.

Have you checked the hose for clogs or leaks. Clogged and leaky hoses are an area of concern with any central vac. Unless you hose has a hose sock, then wear and tear from constant rubbing on floors and other surfaces will result in holes and cracks. Pulling the hose can also result in leaks where the hose attaches to the handle and intake connector.
Mix some dish soap with water.
Use shop vac to blow air through hose, with other end capped or "clogged".
Apply soap solution to each end of hose.
If bubbles form, this indicates leakage. Hose will need to be replaced.

By reversing it, I assume you plugged the hose into the exhaust blower on the top of the machine. If so, insert the other end into the intake and turn one the vacuum. This way the clog is also getting sucked at what should be the loose end.
If it's a sock or similar item, it will be more difficult. Yes, the handle can be removed, but can sometimes be a bit difficult to put back together for someone not real sure of what they're doing. I've seen several hoses ruined by having sharp or pointed objects inserted to clear a clog, cutting the hose and/or wiring, and ending up burning it up. I recommend taking it to a shop and letting a trained technician take care of it. An authorized Aerus Electrolux dealer would be best.

If you have access to a small sink "snake" used to clear clogs in sinks, you might be able to use it to "snag" the sock and pull it out. Needs to be a metal sewer snake so that you can tug on it if and when it snags the sock.
