New hard drive operating system loaded, now cant find hard drive

New Hard drives do not come with an operating system on them. It's basically a blank disc. You would need to have an XP operating installation disc or the original system restore discs that came with your computer in order to load the XP operating system. If you do not have either of these discs, you will need to purchase an operating system and install it so that you have something on the hard drive to run.

what operating system are u using currently?......if u r using win Xp it will not erase hard disc....load the cd and select repair.

1. For the first problem, you'll have to run your windows installation CD in and choose repair installation.
2. For your wireless among other things, run your drivers CD (its among the CDs you got when you bought your laptop).
   
3. Run the drivers for wireless, sound...
4. Enjoy your laptop again
   

It could also be the conncetion came loose, which can happen with IDE hard drives if the laptop gets moved around a lot. Remove the hard drive and take it to an electronics store to have it tested, or if you have a friend with an external enclosure (2.5" IDE interface, they cost between$10-20) you can hook it up to another computer via the USB port

New hard drives have to be formatted and an operating system installed to be able to boot up.

The operating system depends on what you want to put on there

As you are posting in the XP HOME section I would suggest you set your bios to boot from CD
Place the XP HOME CD in the drive and boot up
It will say press any key to boot from CD DO SO !

Follow the on screen instructions until setup is complete and then start to install the drivers you need and activate XP

F11 process is not working and you get a NTLDR missing when you turnon the notebook.

Steps to be performed:
1. Perform hard drive self test from BIOS.
2. If it is passed then use retail version of operating system disk to install XP or try using new recovery disks which nay cost you $15.00.

In your notebook model this issue appears if there is any issue with the hard drive.

Install the XP Pro first, install the necessary drivers etc. Then after that load the other disk for windows XP Home install it choose the drive to install the OS, install the necessary drivers etc. you will see two operating system while going to boot section of the computer.

the boot sector is damaged at this time, try again the system restore, if all else fails you need to install a fresh OS XP home version be mindful of all your drivers cause you need this afterwards

Files copy errors during the XP installation process are often an indication of BAD RAM.

If you have dual RAM modules, try install with 1 memory module installed

Could be problem with the hard drive, could always f disk it to clear the hard drive then do a fresh install of windows xp.
