The Singer Samba 2 is also referred to as the Singer 6211. Singer has two manuals available for this model. One covers the 6201 and 6211 and the covers the 4522, 4525, 6012, 6211 and 7011. According to this manual, the feed dogs do not have that ability. Instead, your machine came with a cover that fits over the feed dogs.

The light will work even if the pedal isn't functioning. The foot pedal in your machine sounds like it needs to be repaired or replaced . To make sure that your machine isn't the problem you can plug a friends pedal in just for a trial run.

It would be wise to have the machine cleaned & serviced. Do you have a manual for it? Did it come with oil at one time? I found a free manual at

You have to register (free)...choose to skip the popups (2)...and you can save the manual to your hard drive.

I checked the manual...you don't need to oil the machine...but page 61-63 shows cleaning...and it's basic. You take the two screws from the throat plate, remove the bobbin case & brush the inside of the machine bed out...I use a small artists plastic bristle brush, or a small childs tooth brush.

You can get the bobbins very cheaply on ebay or from your local Singer or dealer, you must use Singer bobbins.
