Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up and this will eliminate what looks like a loopy bobbin thread.
If you thread with the presser foot down, the tension control is not open to accept the thread as it is designed to do.
Then when you sew, the tension cannot control the top thread and the bobbin thread pulls the loose top thread to the bottom of the fabric.
Normal setting for the tension is usually mid-range ( 4 or 5).
My bobbin thread will not thread. When I bring
check the bobbin to make sure it's not warped
check the needle to make sure it's not bent-roll on flat surface to see if it roll correctly
make sure the bobbin is in the bobbin case correctly
make sure you have a 3 to 4 inch tail on the bobbin-so the upper thread can pick it up easily
make sure you have a 3 to 4 inch tail on upper thread also as it picks up the lower thread
or you can hold the upper thread with your hand to the side of the machine & use the handwheel to lower the needle as it picks up the lower thread
pull both threads to the back behind the needle
make sure there is no lint or loose threads in the bobbin area
Thread won't pick up on a White 6477 Industrial Sewing Machine.
While turning the handwheel towards you monitor the needle when it begins to rise. Look where the needle and the hook (under the bobbin) are. The hook has to cross the needle at just the right time (timing). This is the most likely area that is wrong. If the timing isn't right then something caused this which means needing a repairman to fix.
