When I print photos, they have uniform vertical streaks.

My Canon Pixma iP4000 leaves streaks in my printed photos. The vertical streaks are evenly spaced from left to right and run from top to bottom. I have done a nozzle alignment, nozzle cleaning 3 times with some improvement, and a deep cleaning which helped the most but still left streaks. The printer is set to run glossy photo paper but also leaves the streaks on plain paper when printing the same photo.

Issue: Banded or streaked prints
Solution: Change the Print Quality Settings (Windows)

Change the Print Quality Settings (Windows) The Quality setting controls how finely ink droplets are placed on the printed page. Depending on the type of paper being used a higher Print Quality setting does not always insure a better print. Print speed will decrease as the Print Quality setting is increased. Follow the instructions below to change the print quality settings in the Canon printer driver for the Windows operating system through a printing application.

  1. Click 'Properties' in the Print dialog box.

Note: Depending on the Application software, 'Properties' may be displayed as 'Preferences'.

  2. Set the desired print quality in the 'Print Quality' section.

  3. Select 'High', 'Standard', or 'Draft / Fast'.
To set more detailed print quality settings, follow this procedure:
  1. Select 'Custom' and click 'Set'.

When I print photos, they have uniform vertical st - win_main_print_quality.jpg

  2. In the Set Print Quality dialog drag the slide bar from 'Fast' to 'Fine' to select the print quality.

Note: There are five options in 'Quality'. However, selectable options are limited depending on the media type.

  3. Select 'Auto', 'Dither', or 'Diffusion' from the 'Halftoning' section.

Printing streak

If the line is vertical on the print this is most likly not a print head issue. I would be more inclined to think there is a physical contaminant that might be "scoring" the print or scraping of the ink as the photo leaves the printer. Hold the print at an angle and shine a light on it to see if there is a difference to the surface of the print. Investigate the printer for obstructions and contamination. Pay particular attention to the feed mechanism.

When printing pictures, there are faint white vertical lines on

Cleaning usually doesn't help that printhead much. A new one QY6-0049-000 is around $40.00. You remove by lifting the gray handle on the left after removing all the inks.
