When I switch on my pc,it tells me disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter. I have XP proffessional sp3 but only have a xp home disk.

If your computer has just been formatted, your computer might require you to insert the boot CD

to be able to run it. You might hence get the error message Disk Boot Failure- Insert disk and

press enter displayed on the screen every time you will try to run it. This might be linked

to:

* 1. The boot options not correctly set in BIOS
* 2. A non bootable CD is found in your CD drive
* 3. You do not possess any bootable device
* 4. You have installed a new hard disk
* 5. The hard disk is not properly plugged
* 6. Your system files have been infected

I'm receving "disk boot failure" error. Compaq wf1907 monitor

if your computer has a floppy drive and you have inserted a disk, remove the floppy disk and try booting again.
if this is not your case you can try out a couple of things
1. Check the CMOS of your computer
To do so
- Boot your computer and on the manufacturers logo window press F2 or Delete depending on your computer.
- In the bios check for the availability of a hard disk drive under the storage category if it exists look for the boot order window or menu. check i your hard disk is enabled for booting in this page.
- If all the other methods do not work and your OS is Win XP you can reinstall it in repair mode. Otherwise it would be better to visit your nearest service store.

Disk boot failure

sounds like a hard disk drive problem. If you are comfortable with working inside your computer, you can open the case and remove the cables to the hard disk, and re-connect them again firmly.

Disk boot failure

After making 100% sure you have no diskette or CD in any drives the conclusion may well be that the disk is ruined. You ay try to boot from a diskette or CD and see if you can access the disk then. (see www.ultimatebootcd.com for instructions to make a boot CD) "The ultimate boot CD" has a few tools that might help you out. Since you can't boot you must make it on a different computer, though. You may also try to insert the disk in a diffe rent computer to see if it can be booted there. Also make sure all cables are properly connected.
