Re: want to use samsung remote to control fios box and tv
You can use your own SAMSUNG remote but some of the guide options and dvr buttons may not come across. If your remote allows you to 'map' the buttons you could circumvent the issue.
Another suggestion would be the universal remote by harmony. great gadget. pricey though.

Doesanyone have a code for volume control of Samsung Soundbar HW-J250.
Check it by setting with an other code to your device brand, from the setup code list of the remote control. If you wish to get more information, check these links. Setup procedure, and setup code list to many popular remote controls are given. Pull up older posts. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/
Since I can't find anything about your set except the fact that it's an older set I suspect that the trouble lies in the fact that Fios won't control a set this old. I do believe this one has an analog tuner which is now obsolete.
I have the Samsung Sound Bar WS1R model. I tried all of the Samsung codes; TV, audio receiver, and audio amplifier. The DVD code 3918 worked for my Verizon FiOS remote. Program it to your AUX button and it will control the volume while your other buttons; channel, menu, etc work the set top box. I hope it works for you too!
Just bought a Vizio 22" 1080 p TV and need to set up a Verizon Fios remote for it. The codes for Vizio for the remote do not work. Can anyone help me with this.
I finally found a fix to this! YAY. I thought I might have to return the TV. I have the Phillips 42PFL5603D, but should work for other models.
On the TV press menu
picture settings---picture---dynamic contrast (turn off) AND active control, turn off
If you have Comcast Moto box:
on the Cable box go menu--->setup--->cablebox set up---RF BYbass set to ON If you have a non-Comcast Moto Box, I'm sure there is an RF bypass setting in the menu. You'll just have to look for it. Another fix was close saying to only turn of the active control, but it took all 3 of these for it to work consistently. The latter let it work for all of 30 seconds.
Try resetting the TV by holding down the "up" button on the remote (with the TV powered on) and then, while you hold down the up button on the remote, hit the power button on the TV. This should do a "factory reset" which will wipe all settings in the TV. There is no reason why the TV should not "remember the last input it was on when it was ;last turned off. Also be sure that the TV is not plugged into a switched AC outlet, like the outlet on the back of the cable bix. The TV should be plugged into an output that receives power at all times.
