Janome 8077 sewing machine. Trying to sew a buttonhole. The machine will sew first part of the buttonhole then error code 6L shows on screen and the machine will not continue or complete buttonhole. There is no code 6L listed in manual and cannot get machine to make a complete buttonhole.
I've been looking too and I found here http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/sewingclasses/board.pl?t=18328that you need to put the bar behind the needle threader down. I think they call it a button hole stop? I don't know, but it worked. I didn't even know it existed. But it solved my problem. On my Kenmore it looks like a black lever and you pull it down. It tells the button-holer that you are at the end of the hole and it needs to backup. nifty, kind of.
I had the same problem and no ones advise worked as i did all those things. Then i realized either the foot itself was malfunctioning or the button lever itself. What happened is it would begin a buttonhole and stop, beep, and give me the bl code, or it would do the entire left side and then straight stitch down and not stop straight stitching. It would never do the turn and botton hole back up. What i did was when it would do the first beep i would wiggle the button lever and the foot and it would start again. Then, when the straight stitch on the right side got to the bottom of the button hole i released the foot pedel, wiggled everything again (gently), and pressed the foot pedel again. It Worked! It went right back up for a perfect buttonhole. This is now my button hole routine:-) hope that helps someone desperate for a solution like i was.
