Television shuts off and gives two blink code. We unplug it until it stops blinking then plug it back in. We will repeat this sometimes up to four times before the TV stays on. Works fine otherwise. It may work for a few days to a week before shuts off again. Most of the time only after 1st turning on. Once it stays on, wont shut off. Just a couple of time its shut off after viewing for a while.

SOURCE: Tv cuts off and green light flashes

If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.

Good luck!

SOURCE: tv immediately turns off

Four flashes indicates a problem with the backlight on the TV. It can be caused by the backlight inverter board (the power supply for the backlight) or by defective backlights in the panel It is USUALLY the backlight inverter board that is bad, but I have seen both components fail at various times. This set is fairly new and should still be withing the one year warranty, so you should contact Sony at 800-222-SONY to get it repaired. Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

Hi, my Panasonic PT47WX49E rear projection tv suddenly shut itself off. It won't turn back on at all unless I unplug it and plug it back in. However, when I do that, the power light comes on but nothing...

Either give me a yahoo or note if light on front of set blinks--count the blinks if it does.

most common is 3 blinks, pause 3 or 5 blinks etc.

Let me know if I can assist you.

Tv randomly shuts off

next time it shuts down and power light goes out--do the self check.

On front of set press and hold BOTH MENU AND INPUT BUTTONS FOR AT LEAST FIVE SECONDS AND RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS.

Power light (if an error is detected) will blink a two digit code.

Most common is 2 blinks, pause and 2 blinks---set if there is a error code will repeat it at least 5 times.

If you detect a error code, let me know and I will tell you what it means.

Sony 52" rear projection tc

5 blinks means problem in the AKB (video) and 4 blinks means problem with the verticle deflection. Try this to get the screen to display any recent faults then get back to me and let me know what it said. Press the following buttons on the remote.
Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power. This brings up
a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred.
Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.
We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described
above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink
codes.
