The roller brush of my Riccar Brilliance vacuum is suddenly spinning extremely fast; way faster than normal, and is very loud. How do I rectify that?

I will likely save money by having it checked out by your local Riccar service center. A Brilliance can last a long time and work great but like any quality vacuum should be properly serviced every year or two depending on use. A qualified service technician knows what to look for and what your vacuum needs to work properly.

Extremely loud

Mine started making a lot of noise and my husband noticed the brushroll was slightly bent. I have no idea how this happened, but I noticed several people online were having the same problem. I ordered a new brushroll and popped it in and solved the problem. The noise before I did this was horrible! It is now back to normal.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You probably have a broken fan or fan blade and it is need of replacement. I am un-sure of the brand name or model # but I feel you would need to contact your local vac dealer. So If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
Thanks, Don – The Vac Man

When attachment hose is on, it's extremely loud

That only happens to me if I leave the vacuum on the carpet and don't raise the head before 30 seconds...it is the rubber belt hanging on the metal thing that it sits on. Since the belt is not used with the hose attachment, I cannot imagine what is going on. Therefore, I've been no help at all! Just to let you know it happens to others - just slightly differently.

Eureka 5849A Boss bagless upright

remove belt to brush roll and see if noise persists. if it stops, you probably need a brush roll. at least doing this will narrow down the fault area
